Throwing more good money, OF OURS, at an aging relic.

Live coverage of a rider hitting the gable end of a house and killed instantly anyone? Got to be good for Youtube hits?

That won’t happen. It would be live, with a delay. The real threat to the TT lies with the thing we all carry; the mobile phone. Video recording in HD with access to the internet. It won’t be long until something horrible is posted, outside of the control of the broadcaster or organisers. That will result in a difficult act of reputation management.

Too late, there has been such a video of a rider being killed at Ballaugh Bridge, head first into the gable of the pub on youtube since it happened.

I was saddened that you chose to destroy the scoreboard , apart, allegedly, of a bit of it which may be exhibited at the museum in future years , particularly as (I'm told) the museum at Jurby offered to display the entire scoreboard.

I believe a section is on display in Victory Cafe.

Would be interesting to find out if any other sections have been squirreled away, by whom and at what consideration.

in reality, if we need a scoreboard at all in this electronic age,  it shouldn't have to rely on scouts running up and down with boards behind a birdcage.   replacing or renovating what was should be a non starter IMHO.

The DOI are truly magical in the space of an hour they have done a full weeks work it has now announced on the 1.00 news it will be just six weeks. How can you believe anything these clowns say.   It was not a blunder on M R s part as 3fm had the seven week story as well.   Perhaps they had not thought about Easter and someone reminded them.

If you'd said a full hour's work in a week it might have been believable 😂

That literally makes no sense. So by doing this are Treasury admitting that Treasury doesn’t make any money out of the TT if it can’t see a business case for replacing an integral part of the event? Or are they just trying to stop some idiot civil servant from buying a £5M atomic clock?

I too find Mr Callister’s comment a bit strange. It can only be difficult, assuming the scoreboard is actually an important element of the TT, if a bid was submitted that could not justify the cost against the benefits arising from it; the bid was fundamentally flawed in its detail; the bid submitted did not meet the specifications demanded by Treasury or the bid was far in excess of what Treasury regarded as affordable. Things, generally, are as difficult as you make them. Apart from wringing his hands and promising great things, what is Mr Callister actually doing to get past the difficulty?

Guaranteed the weather will turn shit once they start & delays will be 2/3 weeks so maybe mid May finish!
