the stinking enigma
I'm assuming we did kill witches, surprised we still don't, wouldn't be surprised if we reprised it within the next 10 years. How did we conduct witch tests?
Chris C
Just now, the stinking enigma said: I'm assuming we did kill witches, surprised we still don't, wouldn't be surprised if we reprised it within the next 10 years. How did we conduct witch tests? I think rolling them down the hill was the test. If they were still alive at the bottom they were considered to be witches and killed. Chris C
Although as Quilp rightly says, probably never happened.
the stinking enigma
I think quilpster has already put the kaibosh on that method chris. We must have done it. How did we do it? quilp
No probably about it. According to Culture Vannin the story first saw the light in the mid-1800's and carried on from there, woven into local folklore. There were loads of invented stories, the tourists lapped it up, much like Gef (hard 'G', not Jeff, as Quayle repeats) the talking mongoose, the Bugganes or the faeries. Though some history alludes to a mother and son being burned at the stake in the 17th century in Castletown square for 'sorcery.'
