TT 2022 ??

The key question to be addressed is have they got sufficient Marshalls with adequate training.   It is an expensive trip for the Marshalls from off Island and after having a two year break they may have found alternative ways of spending their holidays.   The pandemic has affected most people in many different ways, financially and changes in priorities, we shall see.

bigger question is free movement on and off the island, what happens if 50 of those marshals are unvaxxed? what happens if those 20 Honda exec's who fly in for Senior RD have been to a red list country, what happens if Holland suddenly becomes a redlist country with 500 dutch bikers booked to come on the ferry.

They cannot put this on unless all restrictions have been lifted. Its ridiculous to even contemplate it.

All the points mentioned just above I would be worried about and think will cause problems. But the biggest one in my opinion will be tge medical cover . Not sure how many medical personel come over for the Races but it would seem quite considerable . I know theres doctors on this forum so would be interested to hesr there take on it .

Coronavirus is already here. You're talking about closing the stable door not only after the horse has bolted, but after it's bolted, been recaptured, lived a long life pulling trams, retired to the home for old horses, been knackered and made into glue.

The virus isn't going away, and any effort should be focused on making sure people are vaccinated, which limits the severity of complications. Vaccinated people can still carry the virus and suffer from it, so the "unvaxxed" aren't the risk you think they are. Unvaxxed people are more of a risk to themselves than to the wider community as a whole. Rather than imagining we can hide in a blanket fort until it goes away, we need to carry on living with it. Eventually, the majority of the population will have been exposed in some form, and it will stop being the bogeyman.

Genuine answer . Read the post about providing accommodation to paying quests unless you are registered…..etc etc.

As for enforcement well  probably difficult unless someone snitches on you. Same with a lot of things, having illegal drugs in your house and so on.

Or your house burns down because they got pissed and left the grill on.

Or they fall down the stairs and break their neck whilst paying to stay with you.

Or you mortgage company find out (it is specifically mentioned in most mortgages I have seen that you have to notify them)

Same applies to Airbnb.  You must be registered as tourist accommodation with government, you can’t just let your house out.

With their wives and families?

Isn’t the very reason most people come to TT to get away from wives and families and relive ( uncomfortably ) their school hood biking and leather dream in a sodden tent with other leather clad bikers?

Or am I missing something?

Our regular home stay are a couple in their forties who now have two teenage children.

Both professional people who rock up on about £30k of bikes/toy between them and alternate their marshalling.

They hardly ever eat here and spend fortunes in restaurants and on taxis.

You are thinking of the people who come to the FOM.  The TT hasn’t been like that for years.  There are as many stag dos as oldies

Sorry didnt make it clear . Yes charging them . Surely their trying it on to say you cant .?

There are two strings to the Homestay rules.

Firstly Section 6 of the Tourist Act 1975 makes it illegal to use your premises as tourist premises without being registered. While the 1975 Act is the latest version, the root of Section 6 appears to be from a similar Act in 1961.

Secondly, Homestay comes with a tax exemption. This only applies if the premises are registered.

It was more of a half joke about most marshals appearing to be middle aged, single, and childless and therefore not having anything else to do for a holiday. A bit like trainspotters.

My response was also lighthearted.
