It would effectively be kicked down the road for years and cost the UK government a fortune. Another nomination for post of the year.
Numbnuts
Googled how long does it take to process Asylum seekers. From UK gov site answer You'll usually get a decision on your application within 6 months. You can get up to 2 years in prison or have to leave the UK if you give false information on your application. remember lots arrive as immigrants then go down the Asylum route. Which can take years after legals get involved .

We did host many of the UK's internees during WW2, so a precedent of sorts does exist perhaps. Piebaps will go into meltdown
monasqueen
Thinking of big boats, there are a lot of old cruise ships queuing up to go to the breakers at the moment. They would make good detention centres, and could be anchored in all sorts of undesirable places.
Non-Believer
Claire Christian has just been reported as saying that nothing would (could?) happen without a Tynwald debate on the matter (3FM News). 1

Albert Tatlock
It's just the usual UK driven bollox by the government to keep people's minds away from the real stories they should be looking at. Classic tory right wing rubbish.
