It's a small regional airport. A management contract is simply paying someone to do something you can do yourself, with the bonus extra cost of then paying other civil servants to make sure the contractor is actually doing what they should be doing. Full privatisation would just be Manx Gas price-gouging on steroids.

To be fair, a private contractor probably wouldn't tolerate the shit that goes on at the airport now.. might be worth the extra cost!!

And the place would be clean and tidy.

The no parking cones that are a feature down there since I was a child, by the looks of them are the same cones. Like a lot of CS presided over stuff, they don't give a shit what things look like. 

A private operator would at the very least make the place look good and welcoming.

Baggage trolleys are a disgrace too. Rusted up badly and dont function as they should. Worse than any shopping trolley I've ever had.

A truly private (i.e. not simply an arm's length government quango) would not touch an operation unless it could actually make money. Despite the fiction of the York report, this airport never can or will because of the limitations and nature of the operation. The sooner that is accepted the better. And the sooner the poor decision making could* be controlled

Makes a transatlantic connection impossible which is a shame. Hopefully this will be changed / added to in due course.

The Aer Lingus app and website don't show any connections from IOM via DUB in the reservation system. You would have to use a travel agent to construct the fare

You can't put in "one way" or "return" IOM-NYC.

Compared to "one way" or "return" MAN-NYC - which you can do ...

It's not possible when the flight it 1635 anyway. There is nothing to connect to.

Hopefully they'll add the morning flight back in and also the connection options.

Of course there are flights to connect to. Look at the Dublin departure board for Aer Lingus flights after 1800
