It's sadly the IOM Government way. Waste money by the skip full then re-coup pennies by taxing and bleeding the public dry and then some more.

But you only need to take a look at these forums to see their is a raft of people who complained that the barrier was not fixed and the IOMG was losing revenue. Then as soon as charges are reintroduced the same ones start complaining again ! Why do I get the feeling some people will never be satisfied? Because that is exactly what they've done for the last year or so and as soon as business began to pick up all the car parks were rammed and people complained there was nowhere to park. The rumour from Manx Forums is that the third car park is not open because it is full of drainage pipes.

Well it's hardly a rumour, they're a bit big to hide, but that one never had many cars in it anyway, because of Manx car drivers having lost the use of their legs many decades ago. People just tried to cram even more cars into the other ones. But even if it was free it would fill up as well as passenger numbers continued to rise again and people left their car their when they went off the their property in Spain for the summer. It definitely was full of pipes, but they moved some to St Marks the other day where they're putting a new main in. https://www.manxutilities.im/news/2022/apr/grenaby-water-main-replacement/
Utah 01
'as soon as business began to pick up all the car parks were rammed' - OK '...............................and people complained there was nowhere to park'. And? Precisely what is the relationship between demand for car-park space and parking charges; or are you advocating that price is used to control capacity. Otherwise, it's a total non-sequitur. emesde
There seems to be some agenda here. I wonder if the longer term plan is to have all car park and street parking fees handled by a third party such as Ringo? 🤔

I think people were leaving their cars there for weeks whilst on holiday rather than getting dropped off or using one of the off-site car valeting services.
Two-lane
Airport website: "With RingGo, you’ll never need a ticket from the machine again. Civil Enforcement Officers know you’re parked with the service by checking the vehicle registration on their handheld devices" There will need to be one or more people constantly walking around the car park pointing their hand-held devices at car number plates. Unless they are paid to work evenings also, you will only need to pay up until they stop work. If they only have the car number plate, how does enforcement work? Is the gov. required to hand over your name and address for a civil offense?
