I paid £60 to park while I was away over the TT period. Just checked in the app and I’m still good to park there for two more months.

So, if you are a regular traveller, for £60, you get a kind of 'season ticket'? I don't think that was what they had in mind when they set this Ring-Go thing up!!

I expected some sort of check out procedure - a barrier or maybe ANPR - but there doesn’t seem to be anything.

Perfect.

If you have a few trips lined up, park once and don't check out. You can keep going back and back again.

Love it. This app was designed for on street parking with time limits of a few hours.

We parked there during practice week.

ETA there doesn’t seem to be any checkout procedure. Thought it was odd so I checked the app to see what it showed

Interesting?

What does the 'Change Vehicle' icon do? Could you use it to allow and family member, friend, colleague etc. to use you slot, with a different vehicle?

I remember flagging this up when the app was first mentioned. There was a £60 maximum regardless of how long you booked for.

The then current minister was adamant that it was a wonderful way forward. The reality is that he has reduced income by tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of pounds. The DOI  Said that there was a contribution of       £600, 000 pa from the airport car park. Now they have to pay Ringo, employ people to check registrations regularly on every car. Plus other admin costs. You have to wonder about the abilities of some of our elected members as they try to justify their place at the trough.

There are some good people trying to do the best. There are others that have no place and no value to the roles they hang onto. Their only concern is to hang on to positions that they should never have been promoted to in a million years.

From the Ringo website:

"You'll be able to use your permit with the temporary courtesy car straight away. Don't forget to change it back when you start driving your own car again.

This change will last for 21 days, or until you change it back. You can do this up to three times a year."

I think The Old Git should set up his own app so that he can rent out his parking space.

Disclosure block over airport’s emergency response procedures. DoI says releasing information could aid terrorists

https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/disclosure-block-over-airports-emergency-response-procedures/

Strange that other airports do publish theirs. is Heathrow on Sea once again lacking in something? https://www.bristolairport.co.uk/-/media/files/brs/about-us/community/bristol-airport-emergency-plan-pdf.ashx?

I guess it lets you correct an incorrect reg no, although we set up everything in advance of parking there.

But it's actually the sort of thing the app is mainly used for - for example for staff parking in a private company car park where staff will be paying to cover all parking in a particular period.  It's a classic example of how IOMG seems to source its software.  Rather than looking at all the options in the relevant field and then choosing which one matches their needs best  - they decide they're going to use a particular product and then ask the developers to tweak it endlessly to do what they want.

It looks as if you can request a refund. Try getting a refund for 2 months and you will probably get all your money back. You may even get back more than you originally paid.

Worth a try. It could be the new         e gaming  sensation. You may find that the airport betting app pays out millions. 😂

Am emergency plan or procedure is there so that people - fire, ambulance, police - know what to do in the event of an emergency. It is not something that should be kept secret. The ICAO has published some templates for emergency plans.

So the possibilities are:

1) the IoM gov. has not bothered creating a plan

2) the gov. is using bomb detecting equipment that they do not wish the world to know about

3) someone screwed up

I tend to think that 1) or 3) are likely.

You would expect any Emergency Planning document to have various levels of responses.

The first level might be 'Do nothing to inconvenience the customer/public and deal with the incident discreetly' moving through several steps to 'Full evacuation, emergency services turn out and cordon etc.'

So there seem to be two issues the travelling public who were inconvenienced that day are entitled to know about:-  .

1. What actually happened? We only need to know, in broad terms. Was there really a suspect item? Was it human error? Was it a practice, or exercise, that went wrong?

2. Why was the response to go immediately to the most severe and inconvenient response?

We can surely be given the answers to these 'high level' questions without attracting the attention of ISIS?

Is Chris Thomas still active on here? I had hoped, that on his watch, we'd see an end to the usual CS cover-ups, lies and bullshit. Come on Chris. Let's have some proper answers.
