The enhanced connectivity is set to deliver GDP growth of £123 million per year by 2025 and support 1,200 jobs.

And this is why it’s important to have strong air connections to London . Do people really believe the Isle of Man could even begin to reach anything like this if we only had randomly timed EasyJet flights to Gatwick ?

Once again get out there and encourage friends family and business to get booking flights and let’s see more people on the island .

You're missing something. One needs to convince friends, family and business that there is something worth coming here for, for their spend on air fares, in particular in comparison with Jersey. What have we to offer to attract the numbers to ensure the airline remains viable?

........that yet again reflects badly on the island

Do you really think anyone outside the island cares?

Well it reflects badly on the football fans who wanted to come and support their team.

Doesn't make us look much more than a stuck in the past backwater.

Do you accept incompetence and ineptitude in your personal life when you deal with people and companies? The island needs to stop accepting sloppy performances from Government.

So when did you last go to jersey please do tell us what it’s got in addition to the Isle of Man ? Maybe a slightly better climate but what else ? And maybe your negativity is preventing them from coming to see you ?

Another fine mess at Ronaldsway that yet again reflects badly on the island...

There's a massive smell of bullshit about that post.  General Aviation handling is carried out by the Jet Centre or Rendezvous, both private companies happy to help anyone on payment of the appropriate charge.

Sounds like Wythenshawe got the price list and their fans decided EasyJet was the best bet.  The team's travel costs are covered by FC IOM in arrangement with Loganair.

Jet Centre or Rendezvous can't handle anything above a certain MTOW.

Let's say - as I understand - an Eastern Airways E Jet was to be chartered... it would need to be handled main terminal and Menzies.

Nothing negative about it but I would suggest that Duke/Strand/Castle St bears no comparison with the main shopping run through St Helier? Nor the nightlife (nowadays essentially non-existent here) and general ambience.

I can assure that I have various rels and acquaintances within easy reach of London airports; but they aren't going to come here simply because an air route now exists. They want something to do when they get here, and having visited previously most feel that they've seen what the Island has to offer for now. Although to be fair, for most, that means the TT which is a basket with a very large number of eggs in it just now.

If people were queuing to come here we wouldn't have to be subsidising air routes to the tune of millions to tempt operators on to them. Operators don't like flying planes with only 25 -50% passenger capacity utilised. One wonders what this is costing IoM Govt per passenger carried.

Unless of course you sincerely believe that paying an operator will fulfil Dr Allinson's aspirations of 500k visitors pa?

Eastern seem to have done ok with their deal with the Welsh assembly.

It would appear they did not even need to fly to get a government subsidy.

What is your beef with loganair?. They appear no better or worse than any of the other airlines imo.

It's not a Loganair beef? It's just a response to someone accusing the football club of tosh.

They were lined up as a charter to fly for the club, but the airport couldn't accommodate and they were told 'there's plenty of seats on the Loganair flight'.

Is that not the airport at fault then, unless you have evidence that loganair put pressure on airport.

Although not sure airport under open skies could even stop aeroflot flying in.

It's definitely something done by the airport. Haven't said otherwise.

They claim they don't have adequate capacity to handle the flights and no room to overnight the aircraft anywhere. Which is tosh. There's plenty of stands to park at. Even the two remote stands on the south side of the terminal.

Presumably then if  easyJet goes tech that night they will call costains in to scrap the aircraft to free up parking space?

I have been to Jersey a few times and would not rate it over the Isle of Man there are loads of places and things to do over here.   The only advantage Jersey has is if you live in the South of England it is nearer but the hotels and restaurants were very pricey.

That's what doesn't make any sense. But that's what the airport told the operator.

Way less than Guernsey who are heavily invested in Aurigny . Have you ever stopped to think that if we encouraged more businessmen here we might get more investment on island and that might make it even better and more attractive to visitors ? And businesses setting up offices etc bringing jobs to the island . They won’t come if there are no suitable ways of getting on island .

I have a simple belief if you talk something down it will go down if you think positively about what things could be like and follow that approach maybe you will see improvement. Give it a try and see !
