Nellie
I see that departure of tonight's easyJet from Gatwick was brought forward by 20 minutes to 19.10, due to runway closure at IOM (per the easyJet tracker) . Apparently this is an 'extraordinary circumstance' and no compensation is payable! The return is similarly advanced by 20 minutes to 21.00. This was advised to passengers around 13.00 today. On one hand, good service to anticipate a possible problem and to make every effort to get everyone to their destination. On the other hand, will EZY want to operate under this daily schedule pressure everyday for the next six months?

Compensation wouldn't be payable anyway if the flight is brought forward by less than one hour. It seems a sensible solution to the airport being unable to extend their opening hours beyond 21.15 at the moment. Worth pointing out that the flight today was meant to leave IOM at 21.20, and it has been brought forward to 21.00. That flight normally leaves at 21.05, so they've basically moved it to where it would usually be anyway. 1 hour ago, Nellie said: On the other hand, will EZY want to operate under this daily schedule pressure everyday for the next six months? Probably. The loads and yields are good on the Gatwick flights. The plane can't go many other places and get back to Gatwick the same evening. Most of the other late EasyJet flights from Gatwick are operated by EasyJet Europe and are heading back to their home bases in the EU. I'm sure they'll drop it if it starts costing them money though. 5 hours ago, IOM said: So the London City flight took off and landed ahead of schedule! Great news . Yeah, but it's Loganair so it must be shit and there must be rampant corruption involved too. Edited April 19, 2022 by Ringy Rose

I was explaining it is up and running which some of you who just like to be negative all the while said would not happen because Loganair were not ready . Well the good news is they were ready ! 1
Bandits
Ha ha they just can’t help themselves. So we’ve lost £50K a month so that they can build a ‘business case’ to play with new toys. https://www.iomtoday.co.im/news/parking-issues-at-airport-will-be-solved-with-app-based-system-545155
Mistercee
So they have lost c £50k per month through not having working barriers on the car park. Why has someone in the Department not had the basic gumption to buy a couple of huts and employ some people to issue tickets and take the money?? It ain't rocket science - the car park needs to be open from say 5 am to 10 pm (17 hours per day) so would need 3 shifts of 2 people and car park could be "locked down" outside those hours. 2 people for 17 hours a day for 30 days per month at £15 per hour = £15,300 per month. So they have unnecessarily squandered £35k per month. But oh no - it is only tax payers money - lets fanny around for months seeking a Rolls Royce high tech solution which will probably be useless. Someone should get fired for this fiasco.

Whilst the parking is a free for all the car park is filled with chancers who will park absolutely anywhere, even on hard landscaping, and the short term disc zone, which was handy for dropping off and picking up, is full making it impossible at times to find somewhere to park. The other week the car park was full and cars were doing circles around the airport roads waiting for people to come out and then causing hold ups by just stopping outside the terminal to pick up passengers and baggage. Where there is chaos let there be order.

It’s free but over bank holiday weekend you couldn’t actually park in it as so many people were parking there for free. So ideally they need a carpark that people can actually park in.

The loss of revenue will just be clawed back from other sources... probably the pocket of the GMT. Nobody forces you to pay parking charges. Get the bus if you don't like them. Or take out a mortgage and get a taxi. 1

Parking is still free so everyone is using it and now you’re faced with the reality that you can drive all the way to the airport to catch a flight and not actually find anywhere to park. When should that ever happen at an airport? The whole thing is idiotic. Then that’s before the 2 hour waiting to get through security, or if your flight even land as they don’t have enough air traffic controllers on. I’d like to see a question put to Crookall in Keys. What the **** have all these people at the airport been paid to do in the last 2 years? None of them furloughed so presumably all either working or ‘working from home’ and yet absolutely sod all seems to have been done by anyone at all. The place is a dirty disgrace, nothing works, the staff literally couldn’t give a toss what’s going on. Is actually even working now proving too hard for government ‘workers’ after two years being paid to watch the telly on full pay? 1
