Oh the rot set in a lot longer than 2 years ago !

I’m sure that’s right. But what have the staff been doing over lockdown and the conversion over to the vaccine centre? Literally nothing it would seem. I’d like to hear what the Minister thinks they’ve been doing while the taxpayer has been funding their wages and absolutely nothing seems to have been delivered by way of services or maintenance which presumably they have been paid to deliver. You get the sense of the reality is emerging that some of us worked a lot to keep our heads above water and some of us got paid to go on a two year siesta which is now proving too difficult to pull people out of.

Is the overflow parking on the far side full too? You know the one where you turn left at the freight terminal roundabout?

It was last weekend. Yes. With the bank holiday demand there was literally nowhere to park once you got there.

That's quite amazing. I knew the main car park was full but hadn't looked at the overflow.

I try to get dropped off where I can to avoid the parking situation, Bus Vannin and taxis.

At the moment we have the worst possible set up at the airport. Parking is still free so everyone is using it and now you’re faced with the reality that you can drive all the way to the airport to catch a flight and not actually find anywhere to park. When should that ever happen at an airport? The whole thing is idiotic. Then that’s before the 2 hour waiting to get through security, or if your flight even land as they don’t have enough air traffic controllers on.

I’d like to see a question put to Crookall in Keys. What the **** have all these people at the airport been paid to do in the last 2 years? None of them furloughed so presumably all either working or ‘working from home’ and yet absolutely sod all seems to have been done by anyone at all. The place is a dirty disgrace, nothing works, the staff literally couldn’t give a toss what’s going on. Is actually even working now proving too hard for government ‘workers’ after two years being paid to watch the telly on full pay?

Don't blame poor old Tim "I have no Idea" Crookhall!   (After all it was "before my time")

I'm not at all proud of the fact I had to choose between missing my plane and parking up on a grassy patch of the car park. Never seen anything like it.

Hopefully it's a deliberate strategy to force through externalisation, however I doubt they're clever enough to think that strategically 🤣

Once people have to start paying there will be adequate spaces.

Isn’t the long stay car park open?

Tim is like a man who has been appointed as the head of a mental facility only to discover the patients have been running it for the last 20 years and there actually are no staff.

One of the two long stay car parks is open. The other has remained closed and currently has a crane located in it moving some long blue tubes....

That’s how it should be though to be honest. People expect to pay at an airport carpark. But at the moment nobody is using the bus or taxis as the parking is free so often you can’t now park up there when you get there. The lack of charging has already put the private airport parking/shuttle service at Balthane out of business and is also affecting airport taxi fares I believe as there’s a lot less work so nobody wants to go down there. And worse of all the taxpayer is still losing £50K a month so that a truly terrible service is maintained.
