Those questions haven’t been answered but seeing as Crookall told DOI tenants who want to pay rents in cash that they would have to travel from all over island to markwell house to pay I don’t hold out much hope!!

it will be a travesty if there are not a number of payment options   for car parking at the airport ,and the system should be kept as simple and user friendly as possible ,

as far as paying in advance goes  I know some systems take money in advance  for a pre determined period  ,, but if your flight is cancelled or delayed , which NEVER  happens in the isle of Man and you go over your pre purchased hours , you automatically attract a penalty notice ,and in some airports where the parking system is franchised out , the operatives scan the arrivals  board  for delayed or cancelled flights , so they can increase their revenue ,

we don't need this culture creeping into the Isle of man its bad enough we have Douglas corporation charging people 20p to use the toilet or change a child's nappy ,

So come on MR Crookall get the airport sorted out  and don't over complicate payment systems  or penalise those who can't embrace too much technology

I don’t have a problem with paying 20 pence to use the toilet. There is a cost to operating these facilities and the maxim “let the user pay” should apply.

If you are caught short you would probably be prepared to pay much more.

But back to the airport parking. Surely there are enough examples we could learn from. Credit, debit card payments etc . All sorts of different notes and coins are used all over the world without problem.
It can’t be beyond us to come up with a solution.

Some of the car parks only accept payment by card / contactless and there is no cash option

Shaws Brow for example didn't have a cash option  when I checked today ( at least on the machine I paid )

I like the system they have with ANPR recorded on the way in and pay before you exit ..

You only pay for the time you use .

It's been a long time since I've parked at the airport but didn't they have something  similar pre covid ?

you are obviously not a Douglas ratepayer who is already paying an extortionate amount of money  for services including public toilets that these clowns are asking people to pay for twice ,  I think its a disgrace that the islands largest local authority , acts in such a greedy  and non  public spirited manner , after all  none of the islands other  local authorities have acted in this anti social manner     their  toilet and baby changing services are provided free ,and their domestic rates are a darn sight lower then  those of the great metropolis  which is the highly wasteful   champaign socialist labour controlled  borough of Douglas ,  the councillors should be hanging their heads in shame ! at this decision

You’re quite right I’m not a Douglas ratepayer. But if I am desperate for a pee or Pooh I would be happy to contribute to the upkeep of your toilets.
Pretty much like I have to pay for parking when I come into the great metropolis which I don’t have to in my home town.

The money I pay for peeing, poohing and parking in Douglas goes to your council to alleviate the pressure on your rates.

Whereas you Douglas johnnies can go to Peel, Port Erin and Ramsey etc and pooh to your heart’s content knowing that the residents of these places will pick up the cost of cleaning up after you.

Your actually paying 20p so you don’t come to Douglas and vandalise them. Our rates are going to vehicles to sit pretty in a field.

so what bogs are free and what are fee paying ?  the only fee paying ones i'm aware of ( i dont go to douglas too often ) are those near the bottom of york road and those near the victoria clock.   if you want free you have port jack, the sea terminal, tescos, shoprite , rileys out at eden park, chester street car park ( the actual toilets or the stairwell at night apparently ) and pubs, cheeky though it is to just use the bogs.  also  the bogs can be accessed in the government building at mount havelock as they are in the stairwells on the second and third floors. obviouusly some of these are just during working hours/opening times where as the pay as you go are 24/7
