IOM
29 minutes ago, Roger Mexico said: It's actually a nice little earner if they can get the turnaround fast enough (at both ends). If you look at the fares that they charge to elsewhere they're often similar for a longer journey time and with decent loading it's basically profit after fuel and taxes if they fit it into/on existing rotations. But it relies on the rest of the model working, if that falls apart it's not enough. The point exactly they fit it into/on existing rotations . So the island is not a priority within their business model . And some posters think it’s the answer to the island ! I have always said it’s got a place but it must not be seen as the only option .

Short sectors with low cruise levels and frequent take offs and landings, cost an awful lot more in terms of fuel consumed and rotation limited maintenance items, hence from a pure accountancy point of view, the turboprops make much more sense. Had we not made so many mistakes in the past the service here could have been so much better, and I don't mean getting government involved in anything as they couldn't run a bath ! 1

Derek Flint
Schipol has asked operators to cut flights by 30% apparently. everywhere is the same. Nowhere can cope
cheesypeas
The easyjet aircraft that was cancelled last night was only rostered for 3 return sectors. Hardly pushing it. They appear to have had a massive delay at Gatwick before leaving for Belfast. Edited May 30, 2022 by cheesypeas

After being sat on the ground in Belfast for almost 2 hours, it's currently got to get back to Gatwick and then come here, and is showing a departure to IOM of 20.28. It'll be touch and go whether it goes or gets cancelled again. Fingers crossed for all the TT visitors who probably booked seats months ago. In a masterpiece of whatever the opposite of "joined up" is, the departures info on the website shows tonight's flight to Gatwick as on-time at 21:05, despite the arrival of the plane being estimated as 21:45. (It doesn't say which day.)
