Until fairly recently you had massive delays at Guernsey as automated baggage wasn’t in place & passengers had to carry it.

Until the mess in Douglas is sorted the Isle of Man is always going to look decidedly down trodden & unwelcoming.

The promenade, castle Mona, Palace , summerland, villiers site, old bus site, Walpole avenue etc are all eyesores & until successfully redeveloped there’s not much to look at.

It's reminiscent of Pripyat when coming off the boat!

Seems this job ad was posted on Red Sky Personnel on August 16 and has since been removed. Nobody locally who can do it?

edit: seems the job closed on august 18 according to this. Still strange to fly over relatively low level positions no? https://independentjobs.independent.co.uk/job/27296634/ground-security-supervisor/

Once again I see that it's taken Manx Radio several days to catch up with the Amadeus News Service, even when there isn't and mangled metal involved.  Though it's clear that it's been a problem since the contract started and only Covid has allowed the contractor to get away with it before (while no doubt taking lots on money for doing nothing).  Of course the interesting question is how much it's costing and to whom.

The London plane service from here remains a very bad joke and is now a big hindrance for anyone going to/from London to work. Looking at Jersey arrivals today, 3 from Heathrow, 2 from Gatwick, 1 from Luton: and Guernsey has 4 from Gatwick. We just have the Easy Jet cattle truck to Gatwick going at inconvenient times. But it is encouraging competition apparently.

The whole place looks run down and unloved. Starts with the cover of the walkway into the terminal that looks like it hasn't been cleaned since 1987 and ends with being left standing in the rain because no taxis are queuing there anymore, only pre-booked. Bad first impression for any visitors.

Shurely not? After the millions that's been spent down there, all that it needs is a walkway cleaning and a few extra cabs? No way.....

We operate "open skies", if there was the volume of business to be picked up then airlines would be queueing to come here and operate. As it is, there's effectively only enough for one, we get what the market warrants we should get?

No-one in government has a clue about what to do about it either.

you currently walk through a room that's got the ceiling down on the way to 'border force'

They've just spent a lot of money restoring it after it was used for the (totally unnecessary) vaccine hub as well.  Presumably putting the ingrained dirt back doesn't come cheap.
