Airport.

Used the car park at the airport this week  to meet a visitor. I have used the airport a couple of times but used busses to get there and back.

What a shambles that car park is. No signage at entrance. Old barriers broken but still in place. No directional arrows to show where to go.  Nothing to show where disc parking area is. Everything overgrown. It looks like the whole area has been abandoned. Lots of signage saying Ringo etc.

Inside the old cash machine/ticket dispensers all still in place covered with tape and Ringo posters.

People at the information desk asking how and where they pay.

The whole thing looked like we were entering or leaving a third world country. For goodness sake doesn't anyone care any more about first impressions. A few quid on paint and a  weeks graft could make such a difference.

There are people voted into positions of power usually because they say they care and want to improve things. I wish some of them would do what they have said they would. I really think just about everything about this Island has deteriatted over the 30 years I have lived here. It really is very sad to see.

They should abandon the RingGo system and install new barriers with payment on exiting.

I did not see any notice of the penalty for non-payment. Does that mean they can legally confiscate my car if I go 10 minutes over the time limit?

It's slightly odd that we haven't heard anything from the new Airport Director, Gary Cobb, yet.  He must have been there about three weeks now and you would have thought there would have been at least a bit of "Hi folks" coverage, even if you wouldn't expect more than bland generalities at this stage.

Maybe he's out in a hanger with his meccano kit trying to fix the car park barriers as budgets are tight.  They haven't had the car park up and running for so long and he has to earn that salary.

He's probably twigged what he's taken on and who he's going to have to work with and is busy affixing the rope to the beam.
