This is appalling given there are so few options to travel to and from the island both EasyJet and Loganair are culpable . It also demonstrates that it is wrong to rely on one airline to serve the island all those that believe EasyJet is the answer should reflect on what would happen if we did . London in particular needs to be served by one large operator ( most likely EasyJet into Gatwick  ) and another smaller operator into a premium airport ( BACF or Loganair into Heathrow or London City ) . Let’s hope the new airport director can use his experience and knowledge of the airlines at Inverness to ensure the island is served in the right way .

The subsidy from government for heathrow & city end next month so unless it’s been successful they may end as can we afford to continue subsidies when businesses are failing here due to costs

I agree the underwriting costs should not be a financial burden . However more businesses will struggle if the island shuts itself off from London as there will be reduced investment. What it requires is a well thought through strategy and getting the supply of airline seats in line with the demand . This should be achieved by having a mix of operators one serving Gatwick the other serving a premium airport because in my view there are different sets of customer needs for the London market .

Loganair Summer 23 now on sale. Routes available to book: LPL, MAN, BHX and EDI.

There aren't any flights to LHR or LCY.

Did they not tell someone they were under review a few weeks ago?.

Any schedule is only really an aspiration this far ahead anyway.

Whatever we need I think some alternative to the fairly poor, if cheap,  service easyJet offer to London if we are trying to promote ourselves as a top tier place to do business, preferably without taxpayer subsidy

If anyone is in doubt about the frailties of leaving EasyJet to the London market take a look at the winter schedule. With the exception of a Thursday the morning 9.55am flights has gone and on Mondays the first flight off island is 12.25pm Fridays 15.35pm . On Tuesdays and Wednesdays only one evening flight . London needs a better service than this it is not satisfactory connectivity for such an important market .
