Just returned after a day away, I had parked in the airport car park at 6am, drove past a sign which said 'Parking Charges' followed by a lot of small print, illegible in the dark with a couple of cars behind you.

On return, I enquired as to how you pay for the parking, to be told you must download an app before you park and follow the instructions? Well, I said, how was I meant to know that? "It's been in operation since May, you'll have a parking ticket from the parking controllers!" I haven't been away since April, how can they issue a parking ticket if they don't know whether I have the app or not?  "Well you'll have to take it up with the DoI!!" Aren't you the Doi?

Not getting anywhere, I picked up a leaflet and left! Making parking simple said the leaflet, simple for who?

A typical IoMG wank fest, I bet they creamed themselves over that new app thingy!

You've publicly stated you're a moron

You can pay at the information desk after parking but before flying & they put your registration number into system, it’s been well advertised for several months

I won't deny it, but how's that?

I knew that something had happened, but I have better things to do than worry about the next crappy thing IoMG or the Douglas Soviet Socialist Republic are up to to make our lives "easier!"

what you can do is call at the information desk on arrival at the airport , give your registration and pay for a days parking ,  My phone wont take the APP  its 5 years old , but the lady at the desk is most helpful  and you get a proper receipt ,

I cant believe how insensitive the DOI have become , there are lots of people you cant download the APP  ,its a disgrace that  we abrogate  the operation of our airport carpark to a UK company  just because the government couldn't be arsed  to collect the money and maintain  the system , I just hope the internet crashes one morning and the good and the great commuting all get  booked ,  but I hear the crayonistas  at the sea terminal are looking to introduce this parking system right across  all the government car parks , incidently the senior civil servants and MHK's have an area of their own where they don't pay  , no fairness or   justice left in the world !

No way on earth you weren't aware of this given the amount of time you spend on this forum and the amount of times it's been covered on here.

One of the first things the new Director should do is bin the App nonsense and install conventional payment barriers as in the past.

It'll require @Chris Thomasto get some cash for it at a guess. I agree, a more conventional system is required.

I - like many - have 'parked' for 6 months in the app because its cheaper than checking in multiple times. The airport must be losing a lot of parking revenue.

What are you complaining about if the new system saves you money?

It's a double edged sword.

It saves me money now, but the more the airport loses money the more of our tax money they need to support it. I'm paying for it one way or another. I'd rather the parking was just run properly and then I'd go back to using Athol or Speed Park personally.

Flights now on sale. Definitely no £35 fares, seems lead-in on IOM-LHR is £71.99 and LHR-IOM is £76.99.

Random dates out 3rd Nov, back 8th Nov.

Comparable fare which inc 15KG case.

Flybe - £184.98 (£148.98 with carry-on only)

Loganair - £210.23

I guess from new Flybe's point of view, there's very little need to incentivise lead-in fares so long as their revenue managenent keeps it competitive versus the competition.

I quoted their press release, not really sure what else I could quote without the flights being on sale yet! Calm down.

Still a sizeable price difference especially if more than one person travelling and I think it'll cause problems. Are Loganair still leasing their slots from BA too?

Yes indeed you did quote their press release which was for a range of destinations not specifically the Isle of Man routes so as ever misleading. For anyone who even begins to understand the airline industry it’s fairly obvious that ticket prices of £35 to Heathrow are never going to happen !
