Airport.

Perhaps it’s time for passengers booked on delayed and/or cancelled flights, caused by the inability of those running the Airport to resolve the 03/21 ‘issue’, to claim compensation from the IOM Gov! Why should both Loganair & Easyjet have to pay up when the problem lies squarely with the managers concerned at the Airport?

They lack any sort of proportionality, a good way to encourage customers back to the airport is to be as shitty as possible as this seems to be the recruitment policy of the jerks providing security !

I don’t understand these comments around security. Whenever I go through it’s fine indeed I went through it yesterday and had absolutely no problem at all they all seemed very nice and friendly as well .

Last week they seemed to be testing every other person for explosives including me!!

The last  time around for this stuff happening (in Reynold's time) when the test strip for the person next to me was put in the machine a red light came on - so I thought I would hang around for when the bomb squad arrived. But all that happened was that the security person waved to a supervisor type who walked over and, without pause, pressed the reset button and walked away.

The machines are programmed to give a certain number of false positives, this could have been what happened.

I was going through international transit at Manchester (I think) and the scanner bleeped at me even though I had no metal at all. Spoke with the guy in change and he explained that there are false positives so that the staff don't start to sleep.

This is understandable for metal detectors, but after you have bleeped someone runs their hands over your body checking for .... things.

Checking for a false positive on explosive residue is more difficult.

RW 03 is most unlikely to be used for departures for three main reasons :-

The runway has a considerable uphill gradient

The ground continues to rise quite steeply beyond the runway end

Gale force NNE winds are uncommon
