Evening LCY and LPL Loganair cancelled again today. Evening LCY has been cancelled 3 times this week. LPL twice (I think).

What is going on?!

Weather and crew shortages.

There's been some serious fog and vis issues darn sarf this past week.

Was on Easyjet from Liverpool tonight, had to circle for 15mins as no-one available at ATC IOM until 1700hrs???? Wtf?

16.20hrs was scheduled departure and scheduled arrival 17.00hrs

We started circling at 16.45hrs.

Why weren't easyjet pilots aware they couldn't land till 5pm before setting off? Surely it's reasonable for them to expect an airport to be open for a slightly earlier arrival?

In fairness that’s probably a problem of the crew arriving before the airport was open for business - I assume the hours were promulgated by NOTAM.

Yup you are right Stu, there's so bloody many its embarrassing isn't it !

what a way to run a bloody airport ! its become a national Disgrace ! and all we get from Chris Thomas is his magic report is  coming  shortly ,  come on Stu  get some heads banged together at the DOI  ! you know a bit about flying and aviation

To be fair though the whole aviation industry is an embarrassment since covid. Who knew shutting down the economy, sending millions of people home to sit on their asses, and grounding tens of thousands of planes and closing or partially closing hundreds of airports would have such an effect? What were running now in the IOM is a former covid vaccination centre that aspires to function as an airport again. But whose staff and management seem to be happy if it was a covid vaccination centre again. They can’t even get the arrival and departures board to be a true reflection of when flights actually land and depart.

Its not going to great for quite awhile. I hinted at it the other day on here. More big big problems with ATC staff due to a not expected reduction in numbers. Not going to change anytime soon if what I heard is correct. And sure it is !

Been recently told by an ex pilot (no reason to doubt him) that the runway closure is due to someone flagging up a problem that’s caused no issues for long donkeys years but reported it to C.A.A , the airport management then have sat on there hands and not come up with a solution and bingo it’s closed. There are I think a few pilots on here who maybe able to confirm if this is correct.

That has been previously alluded to, apparently a procedure is needed.  Can't be that tricky you wouldn't have thought to at least get something on paper and whizz it past an aviation expert.
