Or … more politely … it’s an airport, shouldn’t they be equiped to deal with winter conditions. And yes, I have someone due to fly in today …

It’s not exactly the only airport in Britain to have had to close a runway this week is it?

they have always been reluctant to use the anti freeze solution on the runways , as its expensive ,  and the aircraft might need de icing as well , better shut the place down than provide a service for airport users ,  I would say this is a normal cold morning  in most parts of northern Europe , and passenger services  will remain un affected ,

WE have certainly plunged to being a third world island   and seemingly not able  to  provide   a decent highways  or reliable transport infrastructure , or capable  of keeping the place going  during a long forecast period of frosty weather  that    the met people      predicted  and  warned about 2 weeks ago ,

It can’t cope with much. Useless Airport run by useless Department headed by useless Minister. Minister Thomas made a big performance in his interview about the airport being manned during the night etc. Its all the more amazing, the IOM can’t do things normally, when you have smaller airports in colder regions of the world, which manage perfectly, providing a lifeline service, yet on the IOM, the islands airport shuts down at the sign of a bit of cold weather.

Sick patients due to go for consultation appointments and surgery in Liverpool Hospitals have been affected by cancellation.

Do we have different ice and snow these days, go back twenty years and you never heard the shite they are spouting. DOI would have gritters ploughs on standby if forecast was for any cold weather, is this all through cost savings. They no longer seem to have men or equipment to keep the island moving. Again ineptitude in management, oh we never used them last year get rid that will knock £110,000 off the £7,000,000 over overspend(more like 300,000,000 they hide there figures well, spent good money on accounts division) nothing but a bunch of inept prick's who all walk away with eye watering pensions.

Tossers.

But aren’t the needs of each group fundamentally the same?

Flights arriving and departing contain visitors and  residents alike so the surrounding infrastructure needs to cater for both.

For example both need the cafe to have food available to purchase. Or would you ration it to residents only?

Not quite.

It shows their motivation that they're worried about how things may be perceived by 'outsiders', rather than things being good for residents.

Fix things for residents and then the visitor side will fall into place.
