TheTeapot
Yeah one just came through, didn't land. It's not as misty as it was 20 minutes ago but that cloud is low, couldnt really see the plane this time, just hear it, but I could see the easyjet before. x-in-man
Yeah, radar approach is too much for an Easyjet pilot. Doesn't want to get a plan stuck here overnight. Was going to hang about and hold for a bit but the plane is needed for another flight with more people on, so probably been told to return by the company. x-in-man
Doubt anything else will bother today. Long wait at the luggage check in for nothing.

Should be fine for a radar approach but that's too much like hard work for pilots for Easyjet. Just want to fly like they see on the XBox. The EASY Gatwick crew couldn't wait to go back - must have been on a promise. Edited March 12, 2023 by x-in-man
x-in-man
..and LOGAN not even bothering to try.
TheTeapot
Something else just had a little sniff, think it was an ATR type but couldnt really see, more sort of flew over the airport than ran an actual approach. What do you mean by 7000m visibility? Edited March 12, 2023 by TheTeapot
x-in-man
that was the LOGAN ATP going over. LINGUS about to try again. now 6000 metres - LINGUS now heading back to Dublin.

cheesypeas
It’s overcast at 400ft. How low do all the amateur pilots in here want real pilots to make a decision about landing?
asitis
This is the reason I imagine Active, expires in 19 days: ILS RWY 26 NOT AVBL. CREWS SHOULD CHECK WITH ATC ON INITIAL CTC FOR INFO ON AVBL APPROACHES. FACILITY IDENTS INCLUDING DME WILL CONTINUE TO BE BROADCAST FOR COMMISSIONING DURING THE PERIOD BUT WILL NOT SIGNIFY FACILITY AVAILABILITY 2303010615-2303312045
Guest
Apparently there is currently no radar available (I'm assuming ILS), meaning they have to do what's known as "NDB only" approaches making it far more difficult with the reduced visibility. asitis
I cannot remember the minimums for a "non precision approach" but the overcast at 400ft will be the issue. Not a great time of year to be changing it ! Just been told by an airline captain NDB minimum is 510 ft Edited March 12, 2023 by asitis
