A lot of them are two tonne behemoths!

So are normal SUVs. Won’t make a difference for a ferry designed to take freight and cars.

The fact it’s so long it can’t turn in the harbour if the Manannan is at her birth might be more of an issue.

Is Manannan expecting?

To update, we made it I! My hire car is great, it’s a VW Caddy serious mum bussing. I drove in and around London yesterday, parked in a road just off Oxford Street and we got to Harry Potter - it was soo good! Today is my wonderful granddaughters first birthday and we’re going wedding dress shopping for her mum.

The airport was busy on Friday, security were unusually efficient and Costa (as usually) slow. No where to sit but there were 5000 planes taking off so that was to be expected.

Having a great time, see you when I get back. Lots of love etc

No mist today, no wind either. Maybe things will go better?

I just came back in on the 10am Gatwick arrival and it was trouble free, misty over the Irish Sea but miraculously clear over the Island.

Chris Thomas has been responding on twitter to complaints & one comment is really relevant

Nearly £3 million is being spent on ILS. The figures I have been told for upgrading CAT status is much more than that. Treasury’s Strategic Infrastructure Needs Assessment applies comparatively to all investment now. No airport projects made the cut yet & DoI had its budgets cut.

So it seems various requests for more funding for airport made but rejected by treasury

The ILS is also supposed to be 5 years out of date already.

How does this fit in with the arm's length proposal? According to Thomas:

https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/month-by-month-travellers-will-see-things-getting-better-at-the-airport-says-doi-minister/

.. an advantage is that there will be fewer groups of people involved in making decisions. Does he mean that Treasury gets taken out of the loop, and is merely told to sign the cheques?

The other aspect in that radio clip he mentions is that staff will be longer be gov. employees, but they will be ordinary cheap labour. Zero-hour contract labour can give some problems. And at the time of the first great queue saga at Ronaldsway, which was created by the baggage checking staff being given instructions to do checks I have not seen done at any other airport, they were employed by a private security company.

[The title of the document is: "Isle of Man Airport:Function, Future and Form". How many executive meetings and how many chocolate Bourbons were consumed in coming up with that bit of alliteration. I'll bet they are all probably pretty proud of that.]

Can't say as I'm surprised, let's be honest, Reynolds splurged a massive amount of money on the facility over the past few years without achieving anything at all.
