Barlow
The early incoming Easyjet flight circled over the Island over 20 times before jacking it in back to Manchester. I've been on one of those flights. If you were at the airport waiting in the lounge, think yourself fortunate you weren't couped up on the plane. At the risk of sounding like a broken record it's perfectly clear Oop north.

To be fair to EasyJet it sounds like they have given it a good go !

TheTeapot
I could hear planes overhead in Port St Mary today, but I could not see them. Couldn't see the end of the pier either.

cissolt
Stuck in Liverpool after a hospital appointment, looks like an extra night if Logan air can't land. Sigh. At least the doi are finally being honest about the cause for the issues

It’s nothing to do with the ILS (which is a shocking situation, but nothing to do with today)

As the poster says the fog was on the deck for parts of the day so as much as I like to knock the airport, today was a bit out of their control. A few did get in with it overcast at 200 broken at 100 around 4pm.

Am I being a bit too suspicious in suspecting it’s a convenient excuse for them to blame the current problems on fact that the ILS is being replaced, when even if it was working, planes couldn’t land in these conditions due to lack of CAT2 or a set of full CAT1 approach lights? I’ve never had to go around off a CAT2 approach, including many with visibility between 400 and 300 metres with OVC000.
