I’ve been told that short sea trials may take place later this week. But that’s no more, or less, reliable than July.
Amadeus
Love what they did with the departure drop off area. New director clearly making his mark. 1

Limping along at half-speed as they try desperately to effect more ad hoc repairs to keep it going during peak season only to admit defeat after a week of disruption and put it in dock for a month. Wondering if they'll ever explain why a brand new bespoke ship had such a fundamental failure. Was it bad design, poor installation or defective parts? Much like having to take a brand new car back to the garage for a major repair after just a week, there will always be a nagging doubt about the rest of the vehicle. Certainly wouldn't like to be adrift in the middle of the Irish Sea on a stormy winters night among the windfarms waiting on a tug (or tugs) to fight it's way through. Certainly wouldn't like to be adrift in the middle of the Irish Sea on a stormy winters night among the windfarms waiting on a tug (or tugs) to fight it's way through. It’ll only arrive if it’s accepted. To be accepted it’ll have to perform during the sea trials. And, of course, it’ll have travelled half way across the world. I don’t recognise your description of a limping fleet, ad hoc repairs, and dry dock. Yes, it’s happened - but it’s not the norm for SPCo. Ben goes to & fro16/24/365. Very few vehicles or ferries do that. Part wear out. Theyre certainly being coy about what went wrong. The first sea trial was December. Then a month before the second. To me that indicates that all was not right with the first trial. I raised it on here, and a few ferry forums. I was told some gearing had stripped. I posted that and was told there was no gearbox/gearing. Then lo and behold after the late January trial we get told the gearbox was nackered. 1

I know, this was from a senior official involved with the matter, they said late July is aim but not definite as not accepting ship until fully satisfied. The new ship capacity has not been built into schedule
