I would have hoped that RNAV and ILS upgrades would have been “bread and butter” to an Operations Manager.

Perhaps he wanted GPS, but was overruled due to the cost. And perhaps he is now gagged or unwilling to defend the situation or decisions made by others ?

Daughter is on easyJet from Liverpool to IOM. Captain has said that Ronaldsway is currently closed, so they’re all sat on the plane waiting ( presumably for ATC to have a cup of tea).

And you would rather they break CAA safety guidelines for the sake of 20 minutes?

Airfield closed until 1930

A side effect of these tower closures is that it condenses the arrivals into a tighter window, putting pressure on the ground handlers and causing delays to luggage loading and off loading.

Of course not. I’d just prefer the airport to be open all day, and not the laughing stock of easyJet.

So you want an extra controller every day and all the costs associated just to keep EasyJet happy ? Ronaldsway is a small airport and does not have as many as many air traffic controllers on duty as bigger airports.

I’d just be happy with a properly functioning airport

I think we would all agree with that but we need to recognise we are not Heathrow in the sea with unlimited resources.

How did we ever manage to run the airport with 50% more arrivals, in the good old Manx airlines days⁷

What has it got to do with Easyjet?

We used to have ATC coverage from 0600 to 2200 (approximately) without breaks long before Easyjet were here.

Let’s get back to that.
