New trollies a great move, a nearly perfect improvement. One slight issue they don't fit in the trolley parks being too wide !

Surely someone thought of this ?

No doubt whoever did the Purchase Order sat in smug mode thinking "What could possibly go wrong..."

What! This is barely believable.

I know the current MD at the airport is relatively new, but how new because this must be grounds for dismissal.

How’s fog & replacing ILS which was planned before he was appointed grounds for his dismissal?

👍 Thanks. So, the previous incumbent hadn't forward planned for the ILS replacement - what a dong!

I hope he does a better job then. Not sure how fog comes into play - but no worries - thanks for response.

A number of the cancellations were due to fog so wouldn’t have mattered if ILS working although breakdown not given

If he knew it wasn’t planned properly, he should have delayed the work until it was.

You are quite right, even if the ILS was working, there were quite a few times when nothing would have got in - they may have if the approach lights had been up to scratch though.

That being said, having basic GPS approaches available would have prevented a significant number of the cancellations, the decision height could have been 400 feet rather than the 800 crews were working with without an ILS.

@Chris Thomas- who on earth is telling you it’s a better ILS system? It’s not!

It will make not one jot of difference to landing minima and will therefore not help in anyway regarding weather related cancellations and delays.

It sounds good to the uninformed though.

Chris Thomas is the perfect fit for DOI, the corks must have been popping in the Sea Terminal when they heard he got the gig.

@Chris Thomas you should be speaking with people like MMP who know what they are talking about, not the people in whose interests it is, to keep you in the "fog" as it were !

I'm not even going  to ask about the C3 scanners .. Many airports in mainland Europe have them and you don't have to bother about the 100ml limit or taking liquids out of your bag.

Teeside and London City Airport have them now .

Thats probably another major capital spend for the airport..;-)

Last month I flew into Belfast International which had thick fog sitting on the runway.    The Easyjet pilot advised that we were to have an automatic landing and asked all passengers to turn off their electronic devices.    Not just put into flight safe mode, but actually power down.   Never beem asked that before, I assume that Belfast International has the "bells & whistles" landing system that Ronaldsway really needs?
