"No tow bar to remove the 737 from the main runway"

Post on Facebook:

"we were on the runway waiting to go to Manchester at the time. The captain said that that specific plane didn’t have a tow bar so they needed to fly one over from Manchester but by the time they could possibly look to do that ATC was closed so our plane was cancelled "

West Atlantic or handling agent will get the blame for their being no tow bar.

So, what's the plan for the tow bar?

Bring one overnight on the Ben? Or fly it over in the morning using a small plane and the short runway?

Parachute it in. They're already planning that for passengers, so a good test

Far as recall - there’s never been a B737 tow bar on island. When that aircraft type has visited, it’s always remote parked - or used the stands at end of pier.
Was this airframe brought in to take the backlog of freight?

Covering the West Atlantic ATR which was tech

Was it just the one mail plane that had been previously cancelled, usually the ATR covers that OK? Perhaps the B737 was all West Atlantic had (think it's the first time I recall them using a 737 on this route) or maybe there was a higher than normal volume of mail to despatch?
