Regarding the other issue that can cause delays and cancellations, here is a controversial suggestion., As funds are tight, put a £5 passenger charge on all departures from Ronaldsway to fund improvements to the all weather capability of the airport. If ‘sold’ properly, I would expect the scheme to have a large level of support.

It might be a goer if there wasn't an annual Govt revenue gap of £150M. Nobody could ever have any confidence that their "compulsory contributions" were ever finding their way into the airport itself; look at VED for a similar example.

People want a better airport, not payment of non-contributory pensions and they're already paying enough.

Nope which is why he should tell them to stick it and let Loganair take it on !

Logan air couldn’t handle the extra traffic so non starter & how long are the6 going to be about, been for sale for some time & don’t have capital base or funds to expand more.

Why? Ronaldsway already gets £26 per passenger departure, in addition to landing fees.

Hopefully people will vote with their feet and use alternatives

Anecdotally I hear that they are.  It's reached a very sad state of affairs when 'we' are thinking ourselves fortunate in the extreme if the flight even operates.

It will be interesting to see the ferry pax numbers for this year set along the almost inevitable declining numberstrying to use air services.

Ronaldsway gets it? I thought APD went into Treasury's big pot to be spent on all sorts of things, not specifically the airport. That is certainly the case in the UK.

An airport user fee would be used solely to develop the airport, without putting further strain on IOMGs (allegedly) fragile finances.

What happened to all the airport user fees raised by Blackpool's now closed (well still general but not commercial) airport? I'm not convinced its a great idea.

The money trail would be easy to follow though. The number of passengers is known, therefore so would the revenue generated. The capital expenditure is reported, so if the two didn't align, then any dodgy stuff would beastly  identifiable.

So do we do nothing with the place just in case it shuts? In any event, Blackpool and here cannot be compared, we have no alternative.

Upgraded infrastructure at Ronaldsway will benefit us all for many years to come. The sooner it happens. the sooner we can benefit from it.
