Any money the Government are receiving from any source is not going on any maintenance in any field within government scope apart from Civil Service liability's (no surprise there when you know whom has control of purse strings) Or ill thought out grandiose  schemes. What the fuck is Manx Care, the extra cost of another layer of burocricy would of been better spent on more staff and bandages instead of the nose in the trough of manx tax payers pocket.

"People will no longer be able to drop-off or pick-up passengers outside the Isle of Man Airport."

The complaints start here....

This is the fault of a few selfish bastards who refused to follow the simple 'Don't leave any vehicles unattended in front of the terminal building.'

Totally agree but no doubt the usual suspects on here & Facebook will blame the government etc. however a few parking tickets for unattended cars & any there longer than 5 minutes may have resolved situation

This may be true, but...

"The inner lane will be closed to all traffic with barriers and security staff manning while the middle lane will now be reserved for buses, Malew-plated taxis, pre-booked taxis, disabled drop-off/pick-up, patient transfer minibuses, and airport staff."

If they had had security staff patrolling the drop-in-out zone there would be no need for this. Why can they find the manpower resources for this solution, but could not find the same resources to prevent the problem in the first place?

It's a tactic for a failing business, make it more difficult for your customers to use, works every time

In other news walking in front of buses is dangerous, who would have thought it, hasn't been dangerous for the past thirty years though !

A couple of weeks ago, on the day LoganAir made three attempts and then went elsewhere, I was at the waiting for a passenger. I was not in the drop zone but had a clear view of it. During my wait I saw the occasional person wearing hi-viz walk along the front of the building, but nothing was said to the drivers parked in the drop zone. There was not much vehicular traffic at that time (and no air traffic), so there was no problem. I assumed that was par for the course.

I guess people also just assumed that was the way things are - then TT came along and the vehicular traffic graph went skywards. The airport management (or is it DoI) did not foresee the problem, so they had no-one on guard duty when TT unexpectedly turned up.

The airport management constantly like to compare themselves to other airports, but has anyone been to any airport (except maybe the Outer Hebrides) when there are not constantly multiple people in hi-viz waiting to stick a ticket on you?

This is without a shadow of a doubt a problem that has been created by poor management.

I am also very curious about the " ‘near-miss incident’ between an individual and a bus." What effect did people parked in cars contribute to this?

The DOI just cant help themselves!

They are completely out of control.

Ever since they started selling cars that still had tax and insurance you could see this was going to happen.

Remember the civil servants get access to the staff car park so will not be affected by this.

Making the Isle of Man a great place to arrive???
