So how accurate is the flight tracker on the easyjet app then? It currently thinks tonight's Gatwick is on time.

The flight tracker runs off FlightRadar24, so tends to be pretty accurate- assuming EasyJet don’t change the aircraft.

well last evening it was hopelesley wrong.

FlightRadar24 uses transponder data from aircraft, in the same way that AIS uses ships transponder data.

It cannot be wrong - unless it is a Russian military aircraft "spoofing" that it is Air Force One or similar.

It can’t be wrong as it goes off aircraft positioning data.

What can happen is there are ground delays and these don’t get updated into the app by easyJet. Tonight seems to be an example- the aircraft landed at Gatwick 10 minutes early, at 14.12, but has not left Gatwick on time to the Isle of Man.

FR24 is now showing departing Gatwick at 19.00, despite the plane having been on the ground there for four hours! But the Gatwick site shows Gate Closed, so they are seemingly ready to go, so it looks like you'll be OK, albeit with another unexplained delay!

...and ultimately arrived IOM only 11 minutes late. I suppose you'd moan about that too !

The airport information board was hopelessley wrong! That is, the information was far from up to date similarly to Gatwicks.

That is to say from a users point of view it was inacurate.

Your explanation is perfectly accurate and pleasantly explained, thank you.

Does anyone know what seems to be happening at the airport in relation to the morning flight from/to LGW? Today it arrived only 5 minutes late but was 1 hour 45 minutes late departing for LGW. Precisely the same thing appears to have happened twice in the later part of last week. What’s the story?

Dear death. Lack of Menzies staff to unload/load baggage, followed by an ATC statutory rest break.
