Airport.

So they can find £50k for a pointless position that should be within the remit of the myriad of other managers at the airport, but when it comes to appointing Air Traffic Controllers, forget it, no money in the budget for the right candidates.

You literally cannot run the Airport without sufficient ATC numbers but you know, selling some billboard spaces to local CSPs is way more important....

It's symptomatic of the whole governance of the Island in these recent times, appearance over substance. Plentiful bullshit and its equally plentiful suppliers rule. Along with their remuneration and bennies which take priority.

How we get rid of this culture is another question because it's taken years to get established so is likely to have to take years to be purged.

Interesting that it is advertised as 2 year fixed term but TWICE in the job advert it refers to....after 3 years....more benefits are obtained!

thats to give people the impression the terms will improve but they actually get binned before that can happen.

After 2 years of free NI and loaded relocation costs.  In the 3rd year you’ll be moved on as you’d  have been on sick leave for the previous 12 months and a hastily awarded golden handshake will ease the pain.

If the new job increases net income over present levels it’s a good investment. And we’ve been advertising for ATCO’s for some time, so it’s hardly an either or choice.

How many CSPs are signing up to advertise to the 4 flights a day that actually manage to land here? It looks like gross waste of resource to me.

Ah, the stapel CS drive for "more instant revenue". It's the only fucking thing the parasites know.

Here's a revolutionary idea; £50k as part of "Investment" in the basics instead. The airport needs to be capable of actually getting some passengers through first so they can see the advertising. Getting the approach lighting gantry reinstated so flights can land in less than perfect visibility would be a good start. Tidy the place up, do some painting, cleaning and gardening to make it a bit more welcoming and cared for, never mind another bullshit appointment putting the cart before horse.

Last time I went through there most of the advertising space was taken up by Govt bodies which shows the lack of interest from the private sector. Employing a marketing bullshitter won't change that (apart from the exceptionally gullible).

We've seen what non-entity appointments have reduced the place to, in plentiful style. Let's put a stop to this bollocks now.
