Mr Spake has resigned with immediate effect.

Rumour has it he's heading back to the motherland as he's experienced hate for the fact he is Russian.

His stupid Twitter 'calling for peace' and 'diplomatic resolutions' rather than actually condemning his motherland.

More like he's resigned because he's fucking useless !!

I just pray this time they appoint someone to sort out the airport who actually knows what they are doing !

The place certainly needs sorting out. The priority of any new incumbent must be to make the facility as user friendly to passengers and airlines as possible rather than wasting money on vanity projects.

Hopefully someone with some real aviation experience and management skills can be found to step into the breach PDQ.

Of course he isn't Russian (though a great Russophile) and he's perfectly entitled to call for whatever he wants or not.  That ought to be the difference between democracies and autocracies, though judging from how some people are reacting they want the same system as Putin's Russia but with the editor of the Daily Telegraph instead and even more loyalty oaths and condemnation of 'wrongthink'.

But it's probably just a convenient excuse the end an appointment that never should have been made in the first place (did we eve find out what his airport management experience actually was?).

At the risk of banging on we need someone who wants to run our airport, not someone who wants to build a new airport so they can run it ! The two who have gone, didn't want to be bothered with the "managing" of an airport, they wanted to be  involved in bigger things. Somewhere they forgot what an airport is for !

It needs making customer focused, visitor friendly and a pleasant experience for all who use the place. For the past few years everything has been an uphill battle, from getting stuff maintained to any interaction with the top corridor. Of the current new Government posts the directors one is probably the most important for the island at the moment, and I sincerely hope they look at the dross they did appoint, and vow not to make the same mistakes again !

Strange it coincides with the revelation that they’re losing fifty grand a month because they can’t be arsed running a carpark.

The pedant in me has to point out that they are probably not losing that much simply because passenger numbers haven't returned to normal.  For example passengers in January 2022 numbered 25,630 while for January 2020 they were 55,182.  So only 46% and though the percentage is clearly rising (2021's annual total of 187,383 was only 23% of 2019's 806,764), there's a long way to go before it returns to previous levels.

If the car park is full it's because people aren't paying  and maybe they would only take half the usual amount if they were.  But even £25,000 a month isn't nothing and there's no excuse for the current mess they are in with regard to it.  Especially given how long they've had to fix it.

The good news, if there is any, is the new director whoever that may be, will not be encumbered with this imbecile, and hopefully can inject new life into all areas !

Sorry if this is old news, I believe the BBC have given him a new series.

So it IS worth us paying the license fee, just not quite in the way they imagine.
