SleepyJoe
Will he be presenting a budget before KPMG have provided his boss with an economic strategy? Will it be 'a budget for everyone' ? What's going on in government?

In this economic climate and the dire need for labour in the island, some refugees will be welcome. Refugees that have a skill even better eg, Syrian doctors, surgeons and anaesthesists and particularly those with medical qualifications and training from UK Universities. These will after additional training could be an asset, without being an drain on the economy.

Alfie, Allinson and Ashie live on Planet Zanussi, spend spend spend and squander. Increase the civil service headcount, and treat the taxpayers like fools. SleepyJoe
The growing headcount of the mammoth government establishment may cause some comment when it is realised that the policy of attracting businesses to base here is somewhat futile if there's near full employment

SleepyJoe
Does government give grants to third sector bodies to do stuff on island?

We should welcome refugees when we have the capacity to do so, and there are good reasons to support having a refugee program, but this is not one of them.
A fool and his money.....
We should welcome refugees for their benefit not ours. 4 1
Ronnie
Hi I know Steve's post is 2 years old but right now I reckon the Palastinian people need our help more than ever.
Max Power
The Palestinian people need help to remove Hamas and other terrorist organisations. They are not free to elect anyone who will lead them to a peaceful settlement and statehood. This would have been settled after 1967 were it not for terrorism! 2
Ronnie
Well that's as maybe but right now they need shelter, food and medicine. 1
A fool and his money.....
As maybe and irrelevant. We contributed to the UK military response there via the millions we pay for "defence". If we can find money to kill people, we can find money to help people. It really is that simple.
Fred the shred
There are thousands of supporters causing disruption in nearly every city in the world defending the actions of Hamas and disproving the facts of the attack I am sure they could rally around and help the people who are now suffering from the aftermath of the retaliation . They will be too busy rioting and screaming for blood to dip into their pockets. There are also the oil rich billionaires, the Sheiks that splash money around buying football clubs, cars etc, they should help but I doubt they will it will be the woman in Strand Street rattling her bucket again .

There may be a few at the pro-Palestine rallies who support Hamas, but the overwhelming majority just don't support Israel's slaughter of civilians. 1
