Roger Mexico
A University would be a really stupid idea and rather like the cruise ships would be going into a market just as everyone else is seeing the problems. It might just have worked in the 1960s when this was an expanding sector and there was plenty of spare accommodation. But those don't apply any more here and if you're hoping to attract the international market, you have to realise that we don't control entry for students. 1

The previous man with ideals of an IoM "University" resigned after a Govt (Beaman's) Report, didn't he?
Augustus
Why would any world-class academic wishing to make a mark in their field want to join a backwater glorified college with no significant standing? Why would anyone with international aspirations wish to study at such an institution? Bonkers idea.
pongo
Ireland (12.5% currently) has now dropped opposition to the G7 / OECD Corporation Tax Plan. https://www.irishexaminer.com/business/economy/arid-40715954.html Quote "It has emerged that the Government has struck an agreement with the EU for Ireland to run two corporate tax rates. Most small Irish-owned firms will continue to pay the 12.5%, while the higher rate of 15% will apply to very large companies, including the foreign-owned multinationals and large Irish-owned firms." That's interesting and I would be very interested to know what any tax experts including @Phillip Deardenhave to say here. At the back of my mind I had a vague idea that the IOM previously ended up with Zero10 because taxing locally companies differently was deemed to be discriminatory?
