his family is larger than  i thought.

He had withdrawn but name was still on the ballot. Actually a few of his close friends and family were elected in Jurby. Maybe he is going for the big prize door of House of Keys again.

He'll be lining himself up for the big house now. Chief Minister maybe

(re Quirkio)

I was going to use a 'laughing' emoj but you may well be spot on. If elected again he would have more Keys  experience than most and we'd be no worse off than having Howard as CM.

There was clearly a more general desire for change in the elections.  In Peel for example three of the existing Commissioners were standing down, but four new candidates topped the poll with three existing one (Hazel Hannan; current Chair Alan Jones and long-timer Christine Moughtin) behind and Ian Davison losing his seat.  In Castletown the Board Chair also lost his seat.

Yes there's a big desire for change in Peel. Was happy to see Davidson voted out, but disappointed one or two others of the old guard weren't ousted as well.

ETA we had one of the biggest turn-outs, if memory serves we were only beaten by Jurby.

Are Any of those ousted from Peel on the Corrin home board?

There was only one existing commissioner voted off, and no he wasn’t a trustee or governor of Corrin Home. Two of those re-elected were governors.

A bit of a dent to chairman Parnells ego losing his seat at the town but a good showing by Dawn Quinney  whose a lady with a big heart and defo in it for the right reasons, notice Cubbys vote down drastically from last time to. As someone said before if more newbies stood maybe more of the old guard might disappear but that’s never going to happen they’ll be more and more unwanted walk in’s so scrap the lot start again have north south east west and the Douglas cabal.

Voter turnout at Thursday's Isle of Man's local authority elections was "disappointing", the infrastructure minister has said

"too hard a problem to fix at this point in time without potentially compromising the integrity of the election process".

Mr Baker said it was "clearly... not a good thing".

"Of course it's regrettable that anyone who wanted to vote wasn't able to," he said, adding that appropriate measures would be in place for the House of Keys general election in September.

"We stopped all these people from voting - why is turnout so low?  It must be other people's fault."

Whether it made much difference I don't know, but the complete lack of planning and then paralysis - even though the circumstances were favourable for last-minute changes - really reflects both the complete incompetence of these clowns and the fact they don't even pretend to care.

Well said, they are lacking the intelligence to make better decisions, that is the trouble.

Even ones who on first sight seem to have the ability, quickly get swallowed up, see the Ramsey Dr for an example. If they honestly think the current policy of letting it rip through the island is a good one I would love to see their "workings out"

That’s not why people are celebrating. He can’t push his planning application through now. Nor would he if he’d stayed on the ballot. Jurby expects another load of scrap metal to be dumped on the roadside today. Something to do with global warming.

It's not the leftovers from Stella's is it?

In t'olden days of computers, Microsoft Word's spellchecker used to suggest 'grubby' for Jurby.

I love Jurby. I worked on building that school you know. The pubs had fixed opening hours in those days and we worked out that if we left Port Erin a bit late and took our time we could time it so that we unloaded the tools, put a mix in, and go for a pint in the pub next door when it opened at 10:00am.

If only someone had told him months ago. Oh wait, they did. This was really bad and should not have happened.
