I think you're being really unfair. This guy has years of international trade experience, dealing in numerous items from what I imagine are many sources. You don't get to that sort of pinnacle in commerce without a gaining vast amounts of knowledge that is suitable for the highest courts of the land. We should be grateful that we have his calibre of experience.

It's just an observation but I can't help thinking that the pose and garb look rather Masonicesque.

The blue cloak looks rather Ming Dynasty - maybe he got it from one of the Chinese Banks...?

Didnt you get any? I wear mine every day that Tynwald sits.

My god you’re a patriot. Coincidentally, every day Tynwald sits, I go commando.

I have only just seen that picture of Skelly in his new outfit. I imagined it to be a bit ridiculous but I was wrong. It’s utterly ridiculous. The wig; the desperately-trying-to-be-fancy cloak; black sleeves and white gloves! My initial thought was you couldn’t make it up. But obviously someone did who didn’t have another somebody in their lives with the sense to intervene. The mere fact that this is the fancy dress that goes with the role should be sufficient to prevent any normally self-aware person from applying for it.

Ah, yes. Just seen the flaw in my own argument there…

I think even they realise how ridiculous it is - the electric blue get-up only gets dragged out for special occasions.  Normally in Tynwald the President wears black - presumably so that everyone else doesn't have to wear sunglasses to block off the glare.

Whether Skelly realises how ridiculous it is is another matter.

Probably an upgrade in attire for him, and for reference they would need to pay me a lot more £65,000 a year to dress like a tool! Ffs failure in Government is rewarded by getting the high chair for 5 years. Could anyone please tell me what this gobshite has achieved during his time in Government? just one thing that he can be applauded for.

To the tune of £1250+ a week, plus expenses of course - A week.

For a role that didn't even exist until a few years ago and was created to essentially keep somebody quiet. I wonder if anybody could catalogue precisely what benefits to the IoM the position has brought? (That's benefits to the Island, not the postholders).

Tynwald knows how to look after itself all right. "Not in this together".
