OK, can you please confirm that The Cave was open until 3:30am.

Toffs, EJs and Jimmy B's were late, but can you confirm they were 3:30am late.

I know about the Casino, and said so earlier. That is a different matter, although incidentally there were calls for locals to be barred from the Casino, but again that is a different matter.

Ditto.

I really can't remember if it was open to 3.30am in the 90s? It doesn't really matter, as many people would end up at the Casino anyway and probably still do.

The licensing laws were supposedly changed to allow almost 24hr opening at one point, but I don't think there were many takers?

Cave closed at 2 am back in those days as worked in Summerland. Last orders from memory would have been 1 30am . Great days in there socially or working there .

It's all a bit dire now looking back.

As in so much more variety then compared to now. Yes for sure and lots more places for various age groups too . Bouncing from Thursday night, even from  Wednesday . Groudle of course along with so many other venues before even getting to Cave, Paramount , Toffs and the rest.

I don't care what anyone says about how much better off we are now etc but there's no way I could afford to party now like we did back then!

I can't afford to party now like I did 10 years ago and I doubt I'm alone. I was out in Douglas Saturday night a couple of weeks ago for the 1st time in a long time and I was amazed at just how quiet it was with the exception of a couple of the current "hotspots" (1886 etc). It doesn't even begin to compare with the Douglas of the 80s and 90s for numbers of venues and people.

All living costs have risen obviously but some are either new impositions or costs that have risen well out of line with others, mostly Govt related, the costs of things like taxing cars, toilet tax, to name but two. All these things add up to relieve the pocket of disposable income.
