Probably the tight fisted ones who are on the coach party with that knackered 40 year old coach parked up by the Hydro. And in that case they probably don’t care.

I wonder if they get woken up at 4:00am in the morning as the pissed and/or drugged up loudmouths leave the 3:30am licensed premises (1886 and Jaks) staggering their way home.

I wonder do our visitors think Douglas is a Sh@thole

So you keep banging on and on about the occasional drunk that passes your house late at night, and as a result you think you're important enough that the whole of Douglas nightlife has to shut down at your preferred bedtime.

Can I suggest some alternate courses of action that might be less self-centred ?

1) You buy some earplugs

2) You report it to the Police

3) You move out of the city to somewhere quieter where you can sip your Horlicks and complain about the noisy Owls/Tomcats/Husband instead.

The attached image shows the existing seawall - somewhere on the prom. The curved upper lip is designed to throw waves away from the seawall, but over time it would seem that the profile of the beach has changed, and that feature is no longer effective. During a storm, sand and stones from the beach are driven over into the road.

If a new, higher, seawall is built, presumably the beach will continue to be driven up against the new wall until the beach is higher that the pavement.

Typical DoI solution.

Spend a few grand digging out all that sand and shale that has built up over the last 30 years and expose the old sea wall, todo it’s job.

Or spend a few million on a new sea wall.

in the Sea Terminal HQ, it’s a no-brainer.

Have you actually looked at any of the coaches that visit? Most are new, or nearly new.

The promenade looks great in my opinion, until it gets dark. What a soulless, dimly lit, lifeless place it is, even during the TT. All the attractions are gone, everything looks shut, which it largely is.

A few drunks scrapping must liven the place up!

It’s like that during daylight hours too.

The prime is appalling, a testament to a bad vision, a bad idea, appallingly managed and implemented.

I wish I had your rose tinted specs Max!

I doubt the old sea wall would be up to the job of protecting the IRIS tanks, much easier to let the shingle on the beach take force of the sea.

They really should push that away. Next time they do the sand racing they should hire the plant guys for a couple of days and shift it. It's been years and years building up, it's not a job you have to do often.

They should do it to port Erin beach too, there are quite a lot of steps under that sand.

The new colour changing lights don't appear to be adding much to the prom.

They should never have got rid of the groynes. They were designed to stop this happening

Exactly this. Instead of wasting time moving seaweed, do something more constructive...

Your demeanour is uncalled for.

And despite your somewhat addled memory telling you different, the 3:30am opening is only relatively recent. 2:00am at a push (occasional) was the limit for late drink licence. 1:00 or 1:30 for such as Paramount, Studebakers and even the beloved fucking Cave. (The Casino excepted but you will understand the difference here)

I will not move from my home thank you. And will continue to point out that 3:30am licensing to accommodate pissheads is too late, along with their 4:0am onwards nosey ramble home.

Douglas is catering for the lowest common denominator. The drunk and/or drugged up.
