Not at all Just a person who feels that being woken up every Saturday and/or Sunday morning at 4pm is out of order. Douglas. Shithole. Loud, noisy, shithole of a place. Fuck your weekend, everyone, for the sake of pissheads and late night noisy drunks who are being pampered to by the authorities in providing late-late night licensing. Yeah, ban young people! At least in your day, you could drive home pissed at 4am and not disturb anyone!

Don't buy or live in a property in Douglas, you are likely to be woken up by drunks around 4pm on a weekend morning. Talking loudly on their phones or to each other or just being generally drunk/drugged loud arseholes as they meander the streets. And if you are in a flatted property there is a likelihood that the drunks will continue their partying for some time after at home. Currently Jaks and 1886 have the late-late weekend licence, catering for their generally wonderful clientele (see any Isle of Man newspaper for details). If these people can't have their fun by 1:30am then there is something seriously wrong. Douglas is surely the utter shithole of the Isle of Man. Utter fucking shithole. And if I sound like a grumpy bastard that hasn't had enough sleep, again. You are dead fucking correct. You could always take up cigarettes. They may help you be less pompous and whiny, with the added benefit they may even finish you off a bit sooner, thus gaining eternal peace without disturbance from people enjoying life
Kopek
I think Druggies may be better than Alccys going home in the early hours? Of course, it depends what height they are flying at!

In fact, I don't think they are enjoying themselves. Not by the sound of them. Not enjoying themselves at all.

Sounds like Mr Grumpy has chosen to live in the middle of a town and then complain about living in a town? Places have always been open to gone 3 for my whole life, in pretty much every decent sized town in Britain. You sound like one of those people who if they lived in the country would complain about the sheep and the cows and cockerels being noisy over night. By some ear plugs and have a beer and/or spliff

Max Power
This is Douglas Head, where people go to enjoy the views. It's been like this for years, no action!

By some ear plugs and have a beer and/or spliff Mr Grumpy has lived in the middle of town for nearly half a century thank you. It is only this past few months that there has been a consistent and unrelentless stream of loudmouth drunks making their way at 3:30 - 4:30am every Saturday and Sunday morning. People are entitle to some peace. It's different days when Saturday night ended at midnight because it was then Sunday, a day of peace. Society - and the licensing authority in particular - is caving in to the lowest common denominator. In this case the drunken arseholes...who contribute to making Douglas the title of this thread. 1

How many decades are you going back exactly? We were always staggering home at daybreak in the early 90s in Douglas. It’s not a new thing. There are a lot less places to drink into the early hours now than there were 30 years ago.

(other than Casino) Late 90's when they still had those bonkers Sunday hours in the pub you could get a post nightclub drink (after 2am) in a few of the guesthouses around Mona Drive, like the Glencoe and a few others I can no longer remember the name of. You could also drink in them on a Sunday afternoon.
