Still at the hospital.

She went to her GP initially because of the announcements concerning A&E'S problems....Didn't help!!

Just got home now...6 hours at Nobles!

Manx Care, where's any improvement over the old 'regime'

No help but you would be waiting much longer in UK generally, if it was a genuine emergency eg heart attack, serious head injury I’m sure you would have been seen sooner but a painful hand is not a major, life threatening  emergency

Lack of staff full stop, its massively under funded and we could not afford to fund it properly.

It should just be a Triage centre that ships you off island to specialists apart from the basics like simple broken bones etc.

Medicine is getting more and more specialised and expensive to give the best treatment.

We can never afford the best doctors or equipment so why keep kidding ourselves?

Get a referral from your GP to a UK specialist and cut out the middle man (Nobles)

Then if you turn up with some bleeding you would be seen a lot quicker.

PPS. I don't envy you the iron tablets, anyone who has taken them for a while will sympathise too with their main side effect... 🙂 Stock up on Kleenex moist toilet tissue would be my main advice.

Is it underfunded or is it just to expensive to have so many civil servants and top management instead of service provision. Same managers duplicated in DHSC, waste of 10s millions a year.

Very likely a bit of both.

I've had a bad feeling about the creation of Manx Care from the beginning but was willing to give it some time. So far that bad feeling hasn't gone away, if anything it's gotten worse and the duplication of management roles is but one reason for my unease.

As an aside, the author of the independent report into the Healthcare and Nobles Hospital - Sir Johnathon Michaels, was appointed by the UK Government to chair the public inquiry into electrician who sexually assaulted corpses in a hospital mortuary and took pictures and video. The findings will no doubt have implications for most hospitals nationwide, whatever is found out into the running of hospitals.

Interesting update from our friendly neighborhood Knight here.

My interpretation:

I screwed up, got it wrong and sold you a pup. The pup (Manx Care) is going to cost you much much more than the old DHSC/Noble's did. But I think I can get away with it by blaming the old timers and squeeze even more money out of you for me and my friends. If it looks like the Manx politicians are beginning to wise up, I've got my necrophiliac investigation gig anyway.

A pithy, and wholly accurate summary Grumpy.

Manx Care Board Secretary resigned already, lasted 8 months in the post, who is next to run.

It was a man. That must be his replacement.

Yes the original one was John Middleton whose employment ceased last month according to his Linkedin.  The post was originally advertised last year (60-70k), but they advertised for a Deputy (38-45k) in June, so the Interim may be that person while they look for someone else with the right qualifications.

So Manx Care, and the DHSC, are all well run and organised. Really?

I have my reservations about Manx care for many reasons . Duplication of management structure being the big one . It makes zero sense and I have this inner guy feeling we maybe heading down the privatisation route . But other instances I've had have been encouraging . Also still have at the back of my mind what my GP said on a visit about Nobles being the worst hospital he's ever had to deal with on many counts . Guessing waiting lists must be high in that frustration
