Not just that.  The Executive Director of Human Resources is Clair Conie.  She was a witness to the tribunal and she appears quite a lot in the Decision.  Not usually in a good light.  She conspired with Magson to sideline Ranson and undermine her and like so many others had lots of convenient memory lapses about the process - usually undermined by documentation.

A employers culture usually stems from HR, what’s the bet Clair Conie has been promoted for facilitating this culture.
fire the lot of them.

It is interesting how the problem has been seen  in Tynwald by CM in general terms perhaps as a “dilutional approach ’   rather than specific  to the the case in question.

Choosing to see it  as a general attitude/ cultural  problem “in Govt”  that can be addressed by general changes in attitude, culture by   training etc,

The problem  in fact could not  have been more specific  -a named individual,  Dr Ransom,  brought a case of unfair dismissal against the government and  Gov. lost -and how.

Further,  in the course of that tribunal specific individuals  working for government  (not a whole Department) ,  were very clearly identified  as being the sole  cause of that unfair treatment and considerable evidence was forthcoming of their totally unacceptable  behaviour  as individuals towards her.

There is no evidence (from this tribunal)  that this behaviour was in some way a cultural norm  for that or any other Department. On the basis of the tribunals findings, any general   “improvements” should begin with action against these perpetrators.

I may have missed hearing it,but recognising that the tribunal was about an individual being proven to have been treated badly, an apology to Dr Ranson would have been appropriate.

I think the Ranson affair was the straw that broke the camel's back.

We have a bunch of self serving hypocrites running the island, who sadly are either too thick or too unconcerned at the damage, both reputational and financial, their inactions and decisions are causing the island.

If the amount of money paid out in damages to people who have been subject to medical malpractice and to employment compensations was to be invested in the service the populace would benefit !

It says much, when you read a post on here a short while ago (true or not), that amongst the many reasons for leaving the island, their fear of not receiving medical care for their needs was the main driver !

Alf Cannan is as bad as the rest, a self serving windbag of little use !

I’d still be putting money in a u-turn by Alf over Ashford at some stage soon. Right across social media people just don’t get why Ashford wasn’t booted. Cannan is never going to put a clear line under this whole thing until Ashford goes. The whole argument is about a change of culture being needed.

Dr Glovers PAC hearing seems to have fell off the radar, his behaviour towards her was abhorrent and mirrors what Dr Ranson experienced to a degree.

We have more to come yet with the covid inquiry.

His lack of action to tackle the cost of living crisis will also be a nail in his coffin

Yes I agree he will do absolutely nothing about the cost of living crisis. Just like he’s done absolutely nothing about the health crisis. He hasn’t got any credibility on the cost of living aspect anyway. This is someone paid £70K who has allowed staff to be bullied and abused. How can he relate in anyway to people working hard to keep a roof over their heads who are probably prepared to put up with any work conditions just to put food on the table.

Cannan's got a difficult call. The potential damage done to the Island's reputation by the visible sacking of the man who's now Treasury Minister vs. the potential damage done to the Island's reputation by not sacking the man at the helm of what has gone on in the Health Dept which is now increasingly public to include UK.

The longer he carries on the worse the fallout will be.  At least Manx radio seem to have woken up to the issue

He needs to gauge public opinion. Then it becomes easy.

Exactly this.

If he wielded the axe at the weekend, it would no longer be today’s headlines.
