Mercenary
Who made the decision not to settle at an early stage? Should this be within the Department's control? From Ranson's salary presumably a settlement of around 500k would have been ballpark for initial negotiations.

We've had an election in the interim though? So the old administration (pre 2021) or new administration (post 2021) is the most profligate pathetic administration? I'd argue the old administration, but that's because the new administration haven't really had the chance to completely fuck everything up yet (with the exception of the ferry terminal maybe)? I was initially quite optimistic for the new guard. Admittedly they did inherit quite a shitty stick from the outgoing and we're not halfway through this term yet.
Shake me up Judy
Tynwald aren't even in the loop. No use blaming Ashford either; he was merely a willing monkey. The A.G.s office and the Department Heads of the Civil Service run the show. Tynwald is little more than a dummy government, whipped into mute passivity and compliance by the Attorney General, the President and the Chief Minister - in that order. This is why nothing will change. There's no mechanism for accountability or democratic reform of systems and practices. 6

We don't pay ministers to be willing monkeys, nor do we cast our votes for willing monkeys, at least I try not to. If the bloke has enough ego to consider himself a minister, then he should fall on his sword, too many sloping shoulders types in Government ! 6

If you recall, our government were so on the ball that they weren't even sure, just as they weren't sure if Dr Glover was employed. I'm not sure we ever got a definitive answer. Probably part of the point by point rebuttal. They're good at rebuttals. Taking about them - not producing them.
