They come here, have a short period of time and realise what the islands health care services are …………. a shitshow.

I recently was admitted to Nobles due to an accident and was on a ward. On the whole the medical care was exceptional, with the damage taken care of by Mr Hutchinson. There are a lot of new nursing staff from more exotic climes, and from my experience, they were very caring, experienced, knowledgeable and no doubt well qualified. Not to mention they were hardworking and nothing was too much trouble. How they get treated by management, the system, the hospital and establishment will no doubt cement their roots on the island, or hasten their decision to move to a hospital elsewhere.

I would also add that the layers of management and civil servants, within Manx Care and the DHSC hasn’t helped things. The rush to condemn buildings and facilities as not fit for purpose, whilst demand rebuilds isn’t helping, and has put a strain on the system.

Further to his reference in Tynwald on 16th May 2023 to a delegation, when the delegation was signed and when it was relied on; if it was relied on before it was signed, whether it was made clear to the then Minister that his signature was required retrospectively; on the basis of what evidence it was deemed that the then Minister was unavailable when the delegation was relied on; and whether, and if so when and how, the then Minister was advised that a delegated function had been carried out in his absence.

I note the radio now refers to the Dr Ranson settlement as 2.6 million after tax ! as though the tax is nothing to do with us !

You give the money to the DHSC who gives it Ranson who gives part of it back to the Treasury who, as it is now profit,  gives it to the DOI to build a new art installation on the prom.

Obviously the stupid will think 2.6 million is much better than 3.2 million and the soundbite sounds better ! I wonder who told them to report it this way now.

Taxable here or in UK?

Here.  It's clear that she and her family moved permanently to the Island shortly after her appointment and have since bought a house and settled.  Indeed one factor in the settlement was that if forced to move back to the UK for an alternative job, she would have been paying more tax.

What the government seems to have done though is taken the tax off before paying her (which they have now done) and announced the reduced amount without explanation.

At least with that amount of money you don't need to bother with neighbours.

The explanation is it is after tax surely?
