Blade Runner
A central call centre for Doctors Appointments sound like one of the most stupid things the IOM CS Has ever tried to take off the private sector (GP Practices are all private businesses AFAIK on Fraggle Rock) Can you imagine the calls... Hello? CS- Yes, how can we help? Hello, can you hear me? CS - Yes how can we help? Hello, I need to see DR "XXXXX" CS - He is not available for 6 weeks we can offer Dr XX IN 2 WEEKS. But Dr XXXXX knows about my piles and associated condition. CS - Sorry You will have to see Dr XX or try again for Dr XXXXX in a month What about my bloody grapes? CS - What Grapes? The ones hanging out my arse. CS- Sorry we do not take abuse, you will have to call again WHEN YOU CALM DOWN It is better on the mainland outside sink estate areas, a lot better

Roger Mexico
23 hours ago, Two-lane said: https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/centralisation-of-gp-appointment-system-being-considered/ Sounds like a good reason to implement a huge software system and an offshore phone centre that will cost a fortune and never work. To be fair to Hooper (he says through gritted teeth) this outstandingly stupid suggestion actually came from Ashford in a question in last week's Keys. Full audio here: https://www.tynwald.org.im/playaudio?file=/business/listen/AgainFiles/O-202401-1143a.mp3 Hooper just said that nothing was being ruled out as the "Transformation Team" continue in their mission to transfer as much Manx money as possible to multinational corporations. He also made the more reasonable point that all GP Practices except Ramsey now have online booking for appointments, which should lessen the pressure. Otherwise it's just the usual claim that everything is wonderful because of the topline satisfaction rating from Friends and Family Surveys, while not giving the statistics from those practices that do have monitored call-handling (though I suspect this is more due to cultural innumeracy than the figures actually being poor). 1
Moghrey Mie
Manx Care Board Meeting coming up on Tuesday February 6th. Get your questions on the agenda. Normally Dr Man is the only person who attends in person and asks questions. https://www.gov.im/about-the-government/statutory-boards/manx-care/board-meetings-2024/

Hooper ought to be ashamed of himself for even considering centralising GP appointments , will be easier to rock up at A and E and sit with those who couldn't be bothered to register with a doctor and beat the system anyway taking preference over locals who play the game and wait patiently

Kopek
When your leg falls off after waiting 2 hrs in A&E, or 2 weeks for a GP appointment, then you have reason to complain? If you get the treatment you need, even if eventually, then that's a win shirley!!! The answer to the A&E wait is to only allow 50 plus to attend, let the 'worried well' and youngsters wait till they are old!!! Problem solved !!! 😜
Fred the shred
If this comes to pass, and I hope it doesn’t, people will just tip up at the surgeries to make their appointments and it will be more time wasted or after their appointment before leaving they will make another one just in case if the Dr has told them to come back if their condition has not improved. More wasted appointments. I think the idea that Thomas and Ashworth are making pot shots is spot on definitely the case with Thomas, attention seekers and oxygen thieves the pair of them. Jarndyce
Surely more than a coincidence that the specialist surgeon and the specialist radiologist are leaving at the same time - I wonder what precipitated this?
