IOM DHSC & MANX CARE

The allegations of falsified and fabricated documents being levied at DHSC, if are true, are shocking. These allegations are so serious that every resident should be concerned because these problems go to the heart of government - the IOMG’s credibility and legitimacy will also be on trial. The arrogance with which the IOMG is trying to supress the next public hearing on Dr Ranson’s unfair dismissal is shameful. What is also mindboggling is how tone deaf the Health Minister appears to be to the public outrage about how his department is trying to hide their misbehaviours. This ‘hearing’ will also place additional pressure on our health and social care system. Therefore, the people who behaved badly need to be publicly held to account. If the supposedly ‘untouchable and all-powerful' IOM CS/PS has allowed a Frankenstein’s monster of mal-administration to grow within its ranks, major reforms are needed. Our hapless peoples’ representatives, aka MHKs, were seemingly powerless to prevent this monster from devouring our democracy from within and now it seems they are equally powerless to get this situation sorted out.

Democracy, albeit an imperfect democracy like ours, is still the best and the fairest form of government.  But when democracy is weakened (when autocratic methods are used to transform open democracies into democracies ‘in name only’ i.e., DINO) we are all losers. The reasons for DINOs are multiple and complex, but the common ‘cardinal sin’ is always that (behind the scenes) opaque, autocratic unaccountable decisions are made and making it impossible for people to hold the government to account. These types of failures of our democracy have been commonplace for many years. To-date the GMP have dutifully ignored these inconvenient truths. It is time to let justice prevail and to show how costly autocratic arrogance can be.

It beggars’ belief that this government is attempting to engage us all in a debate about their long-term ‘vision’ for the Island while refusing to engage us in any discussions about present challenges. The government faces numerous headwinds (this scandal, inflation, cost of living crisis, housing crisis, etc.) that will continue to hit the IOM's residents for at least the next 15 months. IMHO, the government should be much more focussed on today’s actual issues rather than what the Island might hypothetically look like 15 years from now.

ETA: If the government cannot effectively deal with the current issues, what are their chances of successfully dealing with the future's challenges?

That's a BIG if....

Well, let's hope that they don't.

It's hard to imagine what argument they could use, which would persuade an actual Deemster that examination of the documentary issues by the tribunal would NOT be in the public interest (as opposed to, say, the MC/DHSC's interest).   One might imagine that His Honour might not be too impressed with the MC/DHSC's attempts to get out of trouble by NOT telling the truth, the whole truth, etc - obfuscation, evasion, and fabrication (allegedly)...

Sadly on Fantasy Island when their backs are against the wall, the establishment has a habit of looking after their own.

You never know what can happen, what is thought. Right and Wrong doesn’t come into it.

Defence and survival of the CS brotherhood's practices and culture will be paramount...at any cost, 'cos they ain't paying for it either...

Protecting the brotherhood has more meaning in this context than most people appreciate.

Any news of an actual out come, when I let out my bated breath I went dizzy. Which reminds me of a joke I can not tell due to pc issues.

It's tomorrow. The outcome may or may not be published. Judging by the numbers on here claiming how important it is, I'm sure someone will be at the Court and report back.
