Ringy Rose
How much did moving the deckchairs from the DHSC to Manx Care cost? There’s a healthy chunk of the deficit. And for what? Manx Care as a separate body only makes sense if the intention is for us to go down the privatisation route that has worked so well(!) in the UK NHS. Has created many more posts which are neither medical or nursing as per people who work there . So 3 or 4 times more managers/ office staff but not enough front line staff . 6

Infamous NPfIT. (He wasn't involved in all of that though, was he? I thought his involvement only came from 2007 onwards after the shit had already hit the fan?) It was an utter waste of time and money. The trust I worked for was an "implementation" site. Our IT provider eventually had to pull out in 2006 because several trusts (including mine) refused to sign their work off and it was going nowhere. Holte End
We didn't have all these problems when Rob Callister was incharge. What has gone wrong in such a little time.

CallMeCurious
So a year to see an ENT is 'average'. https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/year-long-wait-to-get-ent-appointment/ And now RCH Minor Injuries Unit has issues... https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/staffing-issues-force-early-closure-of-miu/ Hopefully Nobles A&E has adequate capacity. Has the DHSS given instructions to Manx Care that it is to reduce specific waiting lists times down to specific values?

Wasn't that wild chap from manxcare involved in that IT project? Seems he's left manxcare after being found out?

And he was "found out" at Manx Care? - is there anyone there who can find things out? Apart from Ranson finding out that her office had disappeared. I do recall he came on this forum and bragged that he was responsible for a major data protection breach. I assume that someone pointed out that in that case, he should be fired. Anyway, he never posted again here. A forum poster named wrighty said that he was "one of the good guys". Who knows.

Arms length to our administration means " not me guv" I agree. If the airport was privatised, the airport could become a monumental sh*t show. Some clued in private organisation(s) will likely see the IOMG coming and take advantage of that ‘business opportunity’. Once a private organisation has become the arms-length operator, it could introduce stratospheric landing fees/ passenger fees, etc. If in the longer term the private operator is not profitable, it will have to be bailed out by the IOMG/ IOM taxpayers. Hopefully, somebody somewhere in the IOMG/CS/PS has learnt these types of lessons … AHHHHH! Meanwhile, the DOI are considering “The steam railway, the Manx Electric Railway, the Snaefell Mountain Railway and Douglas horse trams as commuter transport on the Island”, and “extending MER (track) to the War Memorial” - I can’t wait to see what the price tag for this bonkers idea is (while potentially tens of millions are to be spent on this fantasy scheme, some Manx Care patients will undoubtedly pop their clogs while they wait to see a specialist). Hopefully, Treasury will go through the DOI’s impractical “commuter transport” options with a fine toothcomb and sensibly put the kibosh on these nonsense plans … AHHHHH! One begins to wonder if all the IOM establishment figures really do have the Island’s best interests at heart. 😢 6
