What the two cases do share is an unwillingness by those in charge to admit they were ever wrong. Ranson got too much , i think any reasonable person would think that. I ignore the so called rules as there is law - but there is no justice. You have to wonder how long we can sustain the GP tier in the health service. The Ramey Group Practice politely informed me that they no longer provide that service and that I should get it done privately. A company in Onchan quoted me £79, but not possible until 11 September. So I will try the company in Port Erin next week at a mere £50 (for one ear) - and they took a £20 deposit over the phone.
