No answer to reducing waiting list without more money. Interesting Theresa cope said on Mannin line today that if suggested funding model introduced when Manx care set up their budget would be £55m more than it is this year leading to underspending this year not overspending. As I’ve said before taxes need to go up if we want better healthcare system

How many young people from the isle of Man have gone off to train as dentists? That could be part of our contribution to solving the problem.

Ranson is the gift that just keeps on giving!

"the BMA has also contacted UK Justice Secretary Alex Chalke, who's role includes responsibility for overseeing governance of the Crown Dependencies, and is calling on Tynwald members to reflect on the behaviour of the Isle of Man Government"

"Having previously contacted the UK Justice Secretary to express concerns over the 'honesty and integrity' of the Isle of Man Government, the BMA now says in its letter to Mr Cannan that it's impossible to have faith that obligations on the disclosure of documents relating to the Dr Ranson review will be met."

https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/former-medical-director-and-bma-raise-concerns-over-reviews/

Evidently it's not just us lot who have zero confidence in this bunch of clowns.

CM Cannan according to the NPM (MR) has sent a strongly worded letter to the BMA defending its actions regarding the Ranson Review and the Covid Review. The man is on another planet, deliberately picking fights, that both he and IOMG can’t win. He could have acknowledged the BMAs concerns politely, and kept quiet without launching himself into a full blown defence.

Could you imagine if the Covid Review were a public inquiry type scenario,WhatsApp messages between COMIN members and civil servants being released. Parallels will be drawn between the former UK ex Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Matt Hancock MP and our own ex DHSC Minister Dr Professor Ashford. WhatsApp messages have revealed the contempt Matt Hancock was held in, and he was called a liar and ridiculed. What could be said about our COMIN lot, headed by ex CM Quayle?

Tynwald Members and civil servants don't do humility.

There is an old saying about protesting too much.   Alfie is on the back leg with this one, he really has been a disappointment I had high hopes of him but his leadership has been very poor I think a lot of MHKs have lost faith with the way things are going .   He is very defensive in his attitude to criticism not a good move for a politician.

But it's interesting that the KC handling the CV review has also said much the same.

And that:

..... it’s ‘regrettable’ that the author of the letter didn’t contact her to find out about the processes of the review.

The NPM (MR) this afternoon says that Manx Care are trying to find alternative premises for their COVID centre. They complain of water ingress, hard to heat and poor staff facilities. Well Chester Street has always been owned by IOMG and is obvious that little has been spent maintaining the building. In the meantime, Dr Professor Ashford when he was DHSC Minister authorised large spending on kitting the building for medical use, and also a medical hub at the airport. No doubt the taxpayer begging bowl will be passed around?

If the building is in such dire straits, what will become of it, if Manx Care vacate? I heard a rumour that M&S were taking over building as a Simply Food, and a Cafe, whilst using the other site for Home Furniture, Clothing etc.

well it was empty for a few years & quickly repurposed during pandemic so staff comfort etc probably wasn’t top of agenda during an emergency. Are the rumours about M& S your usual unsubstantiated claims?

No not rumours, looking to relocate the food hall. Common knowledge to staff.

Well presumably if they did they would just relocate to one of shoprite stores they’ve just bought which have easier free parking rather than buy/rent even more premises

Demolish everything on that side of Market Street. Excluding the premier Inn of course. Demolish the car park, school, markwell house, old supermarket site. It's all a complete shit hole and most definitely end of life
