I don't think syringing ears is the preferred treatment these days. This is the situation in England. Is ear syringing available on the NHS? The only way that GPs can offer this service is if the build-up of earwax causes hearing loss. If that is the case, the GP can offer ear syringing through “audiology services”. As ear syringing is no longer one of the core services of the NHS, it has been moved to the category of a specialist treatment. We obviously want preference given to urgent treatment not cosmetic it isn't for cosmetic reasons or vanity , i have spoken to the individual personally assuming it is the same person i believed code99 was referring to when i read the start of the second paragraph in their post

They now refer you to an audiologist who will sort it for £75 per hour. It's no longer part of the MC/RGP contract. Well that’s different, WTF didn’t you make it clear. Person should speak to MCAl to ask for help, again it could be urgent cases getting done and if you want non life threatening etc done sooner then you pay
Kopek
As an elected representative Hooper should still be removing ear wax !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jeeze! I think I would rather vote for Hooper than some of the mindless detractors on here! Edited December 23, 2023 by Kopek
code99
16 hours ago, Banker said: and if you want non life threatening etc done sooner then you pay I disagree. This part-privatisation of our health care by Manx Care has not been publicly announced, it is being done by stealth. IMHO, cutting health services and/or privatising parts of the NHS without any sort of public consultation is undemocratic. Do MHKs now support these fundamental changes to our health care? Are they even aware of these changes?
