He's already grooming/moulding his replacement at the moment in the new COO of Cabinet Office. It's just a giant self-perpetuating mess which they'll probably attempt to solve by hiring their favourite consultancy firm to look into. He may be grooming a successor, but that is where Cannan needs to step in and say “We’re doing this my way.” He’s supposed to be an HR professional. As a key part of the selection process, he could require a presentation on how each candidate has driven, and successfully delivered, cultural and organisational change in a failing organisation. That would sort the wheat from the chaff. The ‘old boy’ network is part of the problem and has to be tackled.

TheTeapot
If you hadn't called yourself Nigel Knobrott you might have actually got a few signatures.

Yes, I would have signed as "Mingey Memsaab". TBH a change.org petition is not what is needed. It is a barrage of emails to MHKs. Let's stoke the bastards. 1
Dr. Grumpy
Just saying.... Linky What should I do if I believe that someone with an honour has behaved in a way that could lead to forfeiture? You should contact the Cabinet Office at honours@cabinetoffice.gov.uk, naming the individual and explaining the reasons why you believe their honour should be forfeited. Please bear in mind that personal disputes are not likely to be a reason to forfeit an honour. Examples of the kind of behaviour that may lead to revocation of an honour can be found below. What is the process for forfeiture? Recommendations to remove honours are considered by the Forfeiture Committee. Each case is considered individually. The Committee’s recommendations for forfeiture are submitted through the Prime Minister to the Queen. If the Queen gives her approval, a notice of forfeiture is usually placed in the London Gazette. The Committee is not an investigatory body – it does not decide whether or not someone is guilty or innocent of a particular act. Instead, it reflects the findings of official investigations and makes a recommendation of whether or not the honours system has been brought into disrepute.
Roger Mexico
But on the other hand if you look at the people who have been given honours, put into the House of Lords and so on under Boris Johnson, maybe Ashford is the perfect recipient. 4
TheTeapot
Anyone know when it was announced he was getting an MBE, when he actually received it and what it was specifically for? Just so I've got the details right for when I send them an email.

Except the full part is … ”has been censured or struck off by the relevant regulatory authority or professional body, for actions or failures to act, especially which are directly relevant to the granting of the honour” Ashford’s not a member of a professional body. Nor been censured by anyone, yet.
