Ramseyboi
Nominated will be Allinson and Cannan. That’s it
Ham_N_Eggs
...and if that was a choice then the winner needs to be Allinson. One interesting twist this time round is that if the Chief Minister proves to be rubbish then the House of Keys can vote them out by a simple majority vote. But that's not an excuse for them to put Cannan in as CM.

Just like most general manifesto's I expect that the manifesto's of the candidates will be pretty bland and cover general points that we will all agree with. Need to grow the economy Control Government costs Address pension costs Address housing costs Improve Education Improve NHS Will there be specific policies about how they will actually do this? I am not that hopeful. A lot on here are calling for change so what specific policies would you like to see that would actually make a difference and realistically could be introduced? Manifestos to lead the government must be about the 'how' of the things that need to done are to be achieved, not bland ambition

They don't actually mean much anyway. They aren't going to persuade any MHKs with the words in their manifesto. What will persuade members to vote for them is the backroom promises of power and influence. The new Members will be persuaded to leave their principles behind. SleepyJoe
Much of the how will probably be taken from the Thomas 'Policy Agenda 21' & the Curran report recommendations They aren't going to persuade any MHKs with words in a manifesto, as you say The contenders should be reaching out to Keys members and the wider electorate, seeking to persuade them that they are the better person to chair the Council of Ministers - with references to their suitability for the role in the context of the Nolan principles

It will be a two horse race as anyone else who puts themselves forward is deluded. Cannan will get the job. Any fannying about between now and then with manifestos, discussion or votes is a waste of time. Welcome to the real world. SleepyJoe
Having outsourced ideas for the economy to KPMG exactly what does Cannan offer the nation, apart from more war of attrition against our social security system? His 'offer' is looking after hardworking families - with no genuine commitment to climate change response, or ridding the island of those 'parasitic inequalities'
